Assasin's Creed - Costume advice needed

Hi all,

Been a lurker here for a short while and thought I'd post up to take advantage of the wealth of knowledge on here (flattery is always the best option).

I've always been a fan of the Assasin's Creed series of games and after looking up a few threads on here I'm thinking of getting an Altair build going for this year's Halloween for several reasons:

1 - Altair is the best character in the series, period.

2 - Assasins are cool

3 - Have you seen the hood? It looks badass!

My issue is, I cannot sew. At all.

With this in mind, I was thinking of buying a costume and modifying it to a better standard rather than to bodge something together from scratch.

I've seen several costumes on ebay (mainly from Hong Kong) but this one caught my eye. Assassin's Creed 2 Altair Master cosplay costume Any Size | eBay

Now I know pictures can be deceiving and the quality is never top notch, but has anyone had some experience with this costume/seller?

Apologies for the lack of pictures, once I get the base costume purchased I'll upload some of my progress as I attempt to modify (butcher) it into something decent.

His reviews on Ebay are pretty good. 99% is near perfect, especially with the clothing/costume department. I don't want to lead you into a trap, but I think you'd be safe.

Welcome to the RPF!!!!!!!! Great costume choice! I always really delve deep into any eBay feedback to make sure they have positive feedback.

Also, I usually ask around here on the RPF to see if anyone recommends people as well.

I have to tell you, when done right the Assassins Creed costumes are simply stunning!!!!

That eBay item looks too good to be true and yet as mentioned he's getting good reviews. At that price I might even go for it since I'm also a huge Altair fan.
That's a very cheap price tag for all that stuff, unless it's flimsy.

By the way, I searched that seller's other items and found the following kids Altair costume which is eight pounds more expensive. This one looks closer to the price tag, it's not cheap looking per se but I'd be willing to bet this is a closer approximation of what you get for the money.

Also, the seller is supposedly selling Volante Kenway jackets from AC3 and I am on the mailing list from Volante, I happen to know for a fact these jackets are sold out and not available till the makers hire more staff and there's a Kick Starter going on for that right now.

So if you ask me, the kid's outfit and the listing of Kenway jackets are putting up my red alert flags. I would purchase with caution.

The brown shiny PVC is my worst nightmare so I was also feeling a bit dubious when I saw the costume I linked.

I think I might message the seller an ask if the costume pictured is what you get. Nothing like being direct eh!

That would be awesome cuz if they are really selling the costume pictured in their auction for one hundred and twelve pounds I am totally buying one! opcorn

Did you buy that costume from ebay after? I have made my own Assasin costume last year, have a couple of pics on here, never sewn before but did have a friend to give me some pointers

Hey D4V1D0 I'm just curious if you ever did buy that Altaiir outfit? I was always wondering if it turned out to be too good to be true or not.

just found this thread. if you can find it for a decent price, the museum replica pieces are pretty good. i have their over tunic, bracers, and fighting knife. i would definately recommend them if you can afford it, the quality is great.
