Sooo it’s been a while and I got bored and decided to try and make a Jansport slacker from a standard Jansport. I have owned three Slackers in the last ten years so I’m pretty familiar with them and the material.
Jansport used a soft cotton denim material for the slacker that they don’t usually use for their backpacks.
I found a cotton denim-ish one on eBay and decided to strip the color and design off using bleach at first… then Rit dye remover and one more round of bleach.
The ghost pattern was still there after the Rit dye remover so the second bleach took it off all the way.
Dyed the bag using Rit royal blue. Jus a quick dye so the blue wouldn’t be super blue
Got the diamond lash tab from another Jansport and boom I think it looks and feels the part.
Next step is sewing the tan straps with tri buckle and sew on the last tab.
If anyone is looking for a slacker and has been on the hunt, this is definitely a great option
