For those of you who don't know, Sideshow Collectibles runs a feature called "Ask Sideshow!" in which they answer questions submitted via their Ask Sideshow form.

You can see one of their "Ask Sideshow!" features here:

http://www.sideshowtoy.com/?page_id=8309

Sideshow has shown an interest in posting up a "The RPF Asks Sideshow" feature and has asked us to collect a couple dozen questions that they will pare down to approximately 10-12 questions that they would be willing to answer for us.

So, here is your chance! Fire away and we will collect the questions and send them on to Sideshow! Obviously, Sideshow is not going to field any questions that might compromise their company in any way or show them in a bad light so if your questions are of a bitter or overtly negatively nature, please don't waste your time. However, this is a great opportunity for us to get answers regarding a major licensee!

We will collect questions through the end of the month and then fire the best off to Sideshow!

Hi!

I would like to ask about your plans to produce the full size Crystal Skull replica from the last Indiana Jones movie? Thanks.

Best regards,

Alexey

Whats the scoop on the Bob Burns Repos.

Is any thing else coming out of his basement.

I Love my Kong.

I'd be interested in knowing how Sideshow determines which pieces to produce. Do they poll customers? Do they make them based on what they believe is hot? Do they make them based on the pool of talent and if the talent can make a piece it gets produced?

I'd also love to know how many items never make it to market for one reason or another. Maybe they wouldn't want to share that as it might be construed as a "failure rate" but I think it would be interesting to know.

I'd like to know if there is any subject matter that Sideshow simply wouldn't touch... Like "we would NEVER made an X"

I'd like to know why prop replicas like the idol don't look like the props we see on the screen. Do the studios require that they not look the same or is it a Sideshhow decision?

A good question... and while I can't speak for Sideshow directly, I know there has been a rumor for years that the studios require a replica to be X% different to differentiate them from the original. In my experience with a few studios and a few licensees, this is completely untrue. Both licensees and the studios want the replicas to be as close to the originals as possible but sometimes issues occur due to the nature of mass production or cost of production that require for small changes that don't matter to 99.9% of consumers (but usually matter to us). One other thing I have seen in the past is either a licensee or a studio that is confused about exactly what is correct or truly accurate... or they are given misinformation that they believe to be true which results in a product that is less accurate than it could be. In my experience I have never seen a licensee purposefully try to make an item inaccurate.

Maybe some of the licensees or previous licensees could speak more on this point.

I'd like to know if they'd be interested in my legendary scale hellboy and kroenen sculptures. :)

I SECOND the above query. I too am the proud owner of the (beautifully crafted, by the way) King Kong armature and would love to see more treasures from Bob's bountiful basement.

What, for example, you say?

1. CAST RUBBER WOLF'S HEAD CANE ORNAMENT from The Wolf Man (1941)

2. Study model for Skull Island Wall and Gate set from KING KONG (1933)

3. THE TIME MACHINE from film 1960 film of the same name, small working version in Tantalus Box.
