1. That screw should be silver, not black.

2. Did you strip it? It doesn't need to grab the black core tube.

3. Those are for the switch hats.

4. Those are the switch hats.

5. Yes, but from the inside. You won't be using them if you are making this hilt static.

6. These are for the heataink retention. The black are for the blade retention ( which you won't use).

7. Well, what you do with the switches is up to you. I would recommend keeping them in a bag with the other parts you don't use in case you want to install it eventually. Or sell it.

I watched the video, replayed it a lot as I was building. A little confusing as there was no close ups of the hardware and location of the fasterner placement. I tried to pay attention to the audio comment for description.

Did not strip the brass screw. Seems to be secure, flat, not over tightened. It just never seemed to grab the core. Probably go back an rebuild, maybe better luck next time.

I guess I need to go back. I feel as if I might have used the set screw and hole for blade retention to hold the heat sink. At this point, I guess I need to find the right place to set the heat sink.

i am also a little upset with the design. I don't like the fact that I have holes in the hilt of my static prop for no reason. I had asked early on about my concern for speaker holes. Although the holes are not speaker holes, they are similar in aspects which I was trying convey as issues in which I wanted to avoid. :unsure

I am am curious why the decision was made to use different color socket screws for each of the covertecs. Is that a detail captured from the show?

99% of people who got in on the run wanted them installable. And that is what we've done all the time since that is what our customer base wants. What I would do in your place is paint the plungers black. And mount them in the hilt anyways, with sticky foam under them and in the switch pockets of the heatsink to put them in place. I'm not sure about the choice of greeblie color. I'm glad you quoted my original post, Aaron told me to just have people with questions to pm him. He'd be glad to let you know over the phone he said.

Not sure about your math on that. I find it hard to believe that one out of every 100 hilts in this run is going to be a static but I do understand you tend to deal with collectors who favor the FX variants. So most of them are being converted. Not that i have anything against FX sabers just in my collection, the expense of those extras will be lost as i will probably hardly ever turn them on. I have a few MR/Hasbro type on display in my collection and I probably only turn them on once a year, usually when I am taking photos of the room.

Thanks for your help. I got everything straight now. I m using the switches to hold the buttons in place. I used Black Aluminum of the switches to help hide them and the holes. I find it odd that these buttons were not black anodized in the first place. You you FX guys like seeing the silver buttons? Is that an FX thing?

I also used black aluminum on the copper part of the heat sink to hide it until I can get a blade plug. I'll have to contact ARKM.

I still need to glue on the parts. Might try a silicone cement in the case that i do need to take it apart for another reason. Any better glue ideas?

Off hand, what is the size of the silver socket head screw that holds on the smaller hilt's covertec? I would really like to get a black metal replacement unless someone can tell me why it is suppose to be silver and the other hilt black. Maybe there is a reason, I honestly do not know.

All in all, its a great replica. Nicely designed. Great quality. Very welcome in my collection. Thank you Solo's Hold. I know it was a long time project but you did a great job with updates and keeping us in the loop,

My 99% comment wasn't really to be taken literally. It's one of those things you say, you know. Designing and making sabers that are meant for electronics is just what we do.

I'm on the phone with ARKM now and pointing him in your direction.
