Arkham City Belt - Foam

I've started making Batman's utility belt from Arkham City out of foam. I plan on making the pouches fully functional. The buckle is almost complete, I think I'll use thicker foam for the outer piece. I based the size of it of Batpirisss' awesome AA belt which mmccreadie generously measured for me. It's absolute size is 108mm * 108mm, in case anyone would like to know. Here is the first progress piece.

Finally finished the buckles. The sides to so long. I had to simplify it a bit since I couldn't get the detail I wanted. Overall I like it though it seems a bit big but that just might be me.

I also tried to make a Robin AC buckle but it didn't turn out as I had pictured. Next up the pouches.

Well I made my first attempt at a pouch. It took forever to make the templates for the side and it came out alright though I really mess up the bottom. I need to refine the techniques I'm using. I have a feeling these pouches are going to be the bane of me existence. Specially since I need six per belt.

Here's all the pieces cut out, Looking at it you realize how much work I had ahead of me.

Next step is to seal and paint it. I'll have to do some research since I had trouble last time I tried to paint foam. Plus I want to make arm and shin guards as well as a Robin belt if I have time.

I have begun painting the parts of the belt. I decide for the first belt to be a little original with the colors being Black/Gold instead of Gold/Silver. I'm using steath's low cost sealing method and I have to say I'm loving the results. I should have it finished and dry for final assembly on Monday.

Also another member asked for my diagrams, I meant to post this sooner but I got busy and completely forgot about it. Now keep in mind I made a ton of modifications on the fly and a lot of my plans are in my head. And in case the scale got mess up the buckle should be about 108mm * 108mm. I used 6mm foam for most of it and the "silver" parts of the AC belt I used 2mm foam.

Well finally finished, the gold paint seeped through the tape but it's not that noticeable. The belt also feels very bulky. The pouches do work.

Steath's low cost sealing and painting method works fantastic. Though I notice with another piece the paint would crack when bent too much. I feel that could be different if I did less coats.

That template in this thread is all I have digitally, the rest where made by hand and lost somewhere in a pile of junk.
