ark II

Anybody remember Ark II? Just got the DVD's and I'm wondering if anyone has done any props, models from this saturday morning show.
It had everything...a huge RV that looked like a spaceship, a talking monkey and a hot chick in calf length boots.

Love to see anything anyone has.

The ARK II vehicle made its debut in "DAMNATION ALLEY", and was re-used for the Saturday Morning show.

Nope.
Different vehicles altogether. Common mistake though.
The two vehicles have similarities, but were made by different groups.

Dean Jeffries made the "Land Master" for damnation alley...the "Brubaker Group" made
Ark II specifically for Filmation.

The Ark was ultimately taken apart and repurposed as the full scale "seeker" in
Space Academy.

One of the two (I don't know the difference between them) is sitting at a movie car rental place not far from Universal studios in L.A. I use to drive past it on the way to work, and it made me smile whenever I happen to look that direction. Such a fantasy-type vehicle just sitting there beside the freeway in the "real" world. :D

From what I know, that's probably the "Landmaster" from Damnation Alley.
Cool. I know it got an "overhaul" a few years back. Haven't heard what
it's status is now.

Wait, ARK II is out on DVD? I know Space Academy is but ARK II? When will Jason of Star Command come out? Great child hood memories.

Yep- its the Landmaster. Its been there for decades- I remember seeing it in that lot near Universal on my L.A. trips in '85, '90' and '97.

On a side note- L.A. is the 'real' world?

Here is a shot of it pre-2001 (what you saw if you looked that direction off the freeway :D )

I read online that it was fully restored for some tv show sometime around 2001 and now looks like this :thumbsup -

Since I now see that this is not the ArkII that this thread is about I will stop talking about the wrong vehicle - sorry didn't mean to drift off topic.

I believe it was 'restored' to a point for use in 'Get a Life' with Chris Elliot in 1990 as the 'Paperboy 2000'.

Just to clarify, the Landmaster was restored for the tv show "Get A Life" and not the ARK II.

ARK II was so much cooler looking than the Landmaster IMO, but you can see the common design elements in both. Each seems to have been an inspiration for some of the ships built for "V" in the '80s.

Thanks for bringing back some memories. I loved watching this show on Saturday mornings as a kid in the late '70s. . .

I read on here once that the front of the Ark II became the front of the shuttle in Space Academy, which subsequently became the front of the V shuttle.

Just drove by Dean Jeffries place last week. The Landmaster isn't there. Hasn't been in quite a while. In fact, nothing was in his lot. At one time in the 90's (aahhh....the 90's) he had the landmaster, some Logan's Run stuff, and the Princess Vespas 'Mercedes'. None of it is there. Anybody heard where it all went? It's not like they can just park the thing on the street.

Gene

PS - I hadn't heard the rumor about the ArkII turning up in 'V'. I remember being on the Warner Bros lot years ago and seing the derelicts of multiple 'V' ships. I suspect it was a similar shape, but not the same prop.
