Are movie costumes getting too complicated?

I personally think the costume designers are doing it on purpose because they see how great the fans are re-creating them, so they use the bigger budget as an opportunity to create some crazy impossible fabric pattern or 3D-printed components that would make any costumer go crazy trying to duplicate. And yeah... just out of spite, hahah!

I'd love to see someone walking around at a con dressed in a mocap suit, that would be hilarious. I would also love to see the debates that would go on here about how screen accurate a given mocap suit is or isn't and the debates over the correctness of the color along with shape, size, and placement of the markers on the suit.
