Anyone know where I can find 6" marble circle?

Not sure exactly where to ask this, but it didn't seem to exactly fit in any of the other sub-forums. If I am wrong, please move it to the correct sub-forum.

What I am looking for is a marble circle similar to the one shown here. But I want one that is about 6" or 7" diameter and more of a tan or light brown color.

I am planning on making a scale JSA table like the one that was used in Smallville in the "Absolute Justice" episode. I am joing to use it and a printout of the painting from the same episode in a display for some Eaglemoss figures of some of those characters. Any help would be appreciated.

8 Inch ok?

Thanks, the color is pretty close on that one, but I think 8 inches would be too big. The more I think about it I think 6 inches is the biggest that I would want it to be.

Does it have to be actual marble?

Why not take a 6" disk cut from wood and paint a faux marble finish on it?

No, it doesn't have to be actual marble. I'm not sure I could paint a realistic marble finish though. The thing is, I know I have seen marble discs exacly like what I am looking for somewhere before. I just can't remember where.

Just a suggestion if you can't find what you are looking for online, visit a local marble counter top company and inquire... Small disc like this can be cut from paid for scrap and drops so they should be able to offer a decent price if they don't mind being bothered with cutting it for you... All depends on the company and who you talk to...

Reminds me of a time I needed a mirror cut into a 24" circle to use for a food display, I already had a section of broken mirror I wanted to use... Went to a few local glass shops and was given the cold shoulder and denied any service... Then I went to the small family owned shop, the guy manning the counter cut the circle and polished the edge for a whopping $5 right then and there as I waited...

+1 for family shops, they're a lot better than general chain stores :)

One thing I would suggest is try craigslist for furniture. People give away a lot of things (marble included), so you could try to pick up a piece, and then have someone cut it for you. That way you're not paying for the marble and the service, just the service itself :)
