Meaning such, that you had to own every instance of the graflex as appeared in the sixtrology? (is that a word)

Im working on my collection now, I guess I have it because the graflex always represented sorta the excalibur of the lightsabers, and who can forget when luke first turned it on?

please post pics of your graflex collections!!!! and if any are for sale. hehe

Here's a few of mine...then theres the 2 waiting to be converted to Jedi Vader...and the one on the Graflex camera I sold...Oh and I have the ESB Mini too now... (not pictured)

Yup...I am very familliar with "The Fever"...but it doesn't stop there...
Now I had to have various variations of the Obi and...well...on and on it goes.

i have 1 REAL EL graflex i made up myself in ANH style, A replica EL with the board instead of bubbles and top turned opposite direction. a REAL EL with green EL kit from a site i got the kit from.

A REAL one with a TCSS led luxeon setup in it and sound.

and a Real graflex ANH just sittin in my display case no electrics in that one.

so i guess i got 4 real graflexs and a replica one all but one either has EL or luxeons in them.

I used to be crazy about Graflex at one time. At the end of that fever I ended up with 6 real Graflex and two replicas. In that lot is a 2-cell and one of those rare 'telegraph' button ones.

However I only have 5 real and 1 replica now. A real one and a replica are with a board member who took delivery on my behalf and was supposed to send them to me but never did.:unsure

Oh HECK yeah... I had the fever bad.

I'm not sure if you're ever fully cured. I collected them from all over for years... I've got a few left, but sold many to pay for the rest of the collection.

I think I posted this picture before with the caption "Look what I found in my Grandmother's attic!"

I've got 2 left. Have had 6-8 over the years. Sold all the rest to guys here. Not one went to eBay, and this was back in the days when they were fetching $300+. Jt001 has one of mine and Gav had one, a few others.

Any of the old timers remember that guy that had like 37 of them?

Did you really find all those in your Grandmother's attic? :confused
I remember back in the early nineties, when I first got the lightsaber bug... there was an article in a magazine discussing graflexes and their uses. I went to flea markets, camera auctions, and every camera store that had been in business for over twenty years, and found tons of graflexes. Most of them in bad shape, but all of them I bought for less than ten dollars apiece. There was a camera store in Colton, Ca, that would track them down for me, buying them when they went to estate sales and such... I also scored several heilands and even a King Sol from that store... it was that King Sol that caused me to leave the board for a while, come to think of it.

All of my Graflexes were converted into sabers by myself and given as christmas gifts through the years... that was when calc bubble strips could be found in thrift store calculators, and things weren't so serious. My cousins and friends display them proudly, and my son keeps his on a hook above his bed while he sleeps...

I used to love the hunt, before Icons, before MR, before it became such a huge profitable deal to buy and sell them. I love the picture of the 'Grandma's attic' find. I would by whole boxes of Metz, Leica, graflex and Heiland parts for dirt cheap, and make my wife CRAZY. 'Don't you have anything better to do???'

I certainly have the bug. I think it is because for while, graflexs were quite hard to come by, and I spent so much time looking for them that now I just sort of feel like I have to get one when I come across it at a good price. Plus there are just so many damn variations on this prop.

BTW- If anyone has one of the older telegraph style graflexs and wants to sell it, let me know.

By telegraph style are you refering to the smaller red button with less knurling? Like the one in sporaks pic, the one on the bottom of the far right "frankenstien EL"?

The button that appeared on the holliday special saber... Ive got one of those in pretty good shape, but I dont know if thats what you mean.

The older Graflex style, the early ones with the 3 ingraved lines running around the head shell by the port plugs, had a tele-graph style button instead of a red button like the SW graflex.

I have one, converted into a Vader ROTJ saber.

holy crap... :confused

Oh, wow, never seen that button before, seen the graflex with stripes, but didnt have the button... Man that REALLY looks like a telegraph!

Learn somethin new everyday.

So the smaller darker red button I was talking about is just a varient on the normal non striped flash then.

I always thought that they shoulda had that kind on the bottom of lukes ESB saber not 2 of the same kind. Dont know why but thats always bothered me, guess its my affinity for the glass eye from the ANH saber. Much cooler and streamlined IMHO than 2 big identical knobs on either side.

The older graflexs looked like this.

The button remebles the type on telegraphs.

What he said.

I took the telegraph button off, and with the door catch and shroud you can barely tell it's the wrong one.

The "Grandma's Attic" picture was a photo I put together. I did mention in my post that it was after years of collecting.

I've saved four of them, sold a couple here and ... yes, I admit I did a few on eBay. Don't think less of me! ;) The Bride is always chomping at me to sell stuff!

Yeah, wasn't it TFowler who had dozens of them?!
