Any word if another company will pick up the SW props license?

Are there any rumblings around the net that MR might have a successor? It seems that with all the legwork MR has done, replicating the props would be relatively cheap and easy, and affordable unlimited editions might be within grasp. Or am I dense?

Are you saying the work MR has done will be handed over to another company? Why would they do that??

Does MR have any legal right to the designs? I mean, couldn't another company simply copy the work they've already done? The designs are all copyrighted to Lucasfilm, aren't they?

I could be wrong, of course. I'm not a lawyer. It just seems if MR lost the license, it'd be cool if another company could snag it.

Legal rights to the designs and handing over the work already done are two completely different things.
Another company could probably pay MR for the work already completed - similar to when MR bought the tooling from Riddell for the mini helmets.
