Any Help or Ideas on fixing a Vintage 12" Darth Vader!

Hi, I just finished redoing a third room for all my SW stuff. As I was taking some stuff out of storage. I noticed that my old vintage Darth Vader had both his arms fall off. This figure is in good shape. It appears that the elastic that holds them both together just rotted and broke. Does anybody know where to get these elastics? Is there something else I can use? Has anybody else repaired these vintage figure before? I'm sure I can rig up something, But before I did I wanted to check and see if some one on this board has ever had this problem and came up with a solution!

Thanks,

I had a vintage 18" Alien figure with the same problem. I just used a bit of elastic string I had bought previously at a hardware store, tied one end around a short bit of dowel rod, inserted that into the hole in one arm, fished the string through the upper body, tied the other end around another bit of dowel rod and inmserted that into the other arm. It's not factory tight, but it works just fine since it's only displayed.

Yep, any elastic up to 1/4" wide will do the trick. I usually get it from a fabric store, but I think Wal-Mart sells it too.

As Bob said, it won't be factory tight (unless you separate the torso, do the repair, then glue the torso back together), but it's the best DIY solution that I've found when this type of problem occurs.

Good luck.
