Any fans of G4 out there?

Stopped watching after Olivia Munn left -

:lol Same here mostly. I've heard that she wasn't a real geek either. Candace Bailey is funny, but I would have rather seen Sara Underwood as host because she seems like she's a "legit geek".

Not to mention they sucked up to EA to get one of their people in Mass Effect as a useless character.

That character was completely pointless, but Jessica Chobot is really a gamer. It's also not the reason people got ticked about that game either. :lol

I found it hard to watch after Kevin left. Although, I think a Candace and Sara hosted show could have worked. X-Play never did anything for me.

Best lineup included: Kevin, Chris, Alyson, and Sara.

I was a huge fan of the G4 until the G5 came out...
*crickets*

Anywhoo... I'm just going to repeat what others have said: Once TechTV was gone, so was the magic. I'll admit, though, I even watched TechTV less and less as the years went by. It was fun watching Leo transition from a Windows guy to a Mac guy.

I still remember the old C|Net shows - who could forget where Ryan Seacrest got his start? I looked forward to Richard Hart and Gina St. John giving me all the latest Tech News.

Of course, I think the big problem with "TechTV" is the internet. C|Net and TechTV had their place when the internet, computers and digital technology were young(ish), but by 2002/2003 the internet became a MUCH better place to get your Tech News and folks were finally starting to get streaming video right. Even "TechTV" was too slow to adopt to the internet age.

If you wanted to do a "TechTV" style show today, you wouldn't be able to talk about/review the latest technologies (news), you would have to do more of a lifestyle show - talking philosophically (somewhat) about how technology affects our lives. People wouldn't tune in to see somebody reviewing the iPad Mini - but they might tune in to see a profile piece like "A Day in my life with the iPad Mini".

I do miss Richard, Gina, and Leo though...

I don't care if she was a "real" geek or not. It was fun while she was there.

Here's my problem with Munn.....was she hot....yes.....but a lot of times she would act way manly'er than Kevin. Or when she would try to be funny, it usually would backfire and turn into some weird awkward camera time moment.

Agreed, a lot of Munn's shtick felt forced...Then again I'm a hypocrite cause I stopped watching after she left. :lol:facepalm

I use to watch G4 years ago but they pretty much did away with everything that was good. I use to watch AotS but that got real bad real quick after Munn left. X-Play became pointless, and they somehow managed to saturate ninja warrior. All they do now is play the stupid show Cops.

Don't forget CHEATERS!!!

They turned into MTV, I haven't watched G4 in YYEEEAARRSS. And chalk me up as another person who didn't like Munn.

I only watched it for Code Monkeys and the occasional movie. Haven't watched it in years.

Looks like its going to be officially rebranded The Esquire Channel by NBCUniversal. A far cry from the Leo Laporte days!
