Any fan's of Dr. Grordbort out there? (Weta Rayguns) and the STEAMPUNK HAN SOLO

They really need to try and get a license for Fallout 3 and do the Laser rifle/pistol and plasma rifle/pistol. They would fit right in to what they've done with this line.

I remember that one too! Loved the use of the Exacto handle. Beautiful.

I'm in total awe & admiration of the scratch-built Steam Punk guns posted here - MUCH more so than the WETA ray-guns. Amazing work, people! :thumbsup

BTW - I know the similarities are tenuous, but I see a few:

Well i was enjoying this thread then some one threw up a pic of THAT woman...aww well, btw what movie is that from? :confused

The Weta rayguns are great! Greg Broadmore is one of my favorite concept designers and he does an amazing job with them. I think his take on the rayguns was pretty unique..

The new book Dr. Grordbort Presents Victory: Scientific Adventure Violence is really good.

I just took a look at the Darth Saber gun. Damn Man!!! Great work! I never saw that link before.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you achieve this paint job? Awesome!!

Thanks Tim :D

I went and dug this up from my thread:

For color, I based it all out with Krylon "Crafter's Metallic" in Charcoal. Then with an airbrush I went in with Krylon Dull Aluminum (decanted from the rattle can), avoiding any recesses, nooks, crannies, or crevices. I wasn't completely happy with that, so I dirtied it down with airbrushed Tamiya black, and then hit that with a spritzer bottle filled with isopropyl alcohol. Then in some areas I went in with a thin mixture of Tamiya brown and spritzed that with alcohol. The "fuel cell" was done with Tamiya Titanium Gold, dirtied down with mostly brown and a bit of black (and once again, the spritzer bottle of alcohol).

A final step was to add the "gunk" in all the crevices with a thin wash of burnt umber and black oil paint thinned with turpenoid (applied with a fine brush).

The burnt metal/heat discoloration was done with airbrushed drawing inks - blue, purple, and brown - with a bit of Testor's Model Master "Exhaust" Buffing Metalizer.

Same with the tubes - they were tinted with blue and purple ink mixed with a bit of Future floorwax. Then at the bases of both the inner and outer tubes I hit them with a bit of the Testor's Exhaust.

The coils on the underside are aluminum armature wire, so I just dipped them in Aluminum Black and then gave them a slight buffing with steel wool.

Oh yes, lovely to look at, but just too expensive for the likes of me!

So I've had to make my own:

The THUNDERBUSS Sonic Hunting Rifle.

Wow, Glad this got bumped. I missed it before. Some great designs and builds. More inspiration for the Bison.....

I agree with people in here. The Dr. Grordbort line of wave disruptors and aether oscillators are work of art! But the hefty price tag make them objects of desire for me, and oh boy, do I want one...! My personal favorite is the Goliathon model 83 and 800. Although the Moon Hater death ray is only interesting in it's full size ;)

I whipped this up in solidworks some time ago (not quite finished though). Just wish I had the 'MakerBot' so I could print the sucker ;)
