Another Zvezda Star Destroyer

That is crazy detailing! Looks very put together and tidy in my book. How in the world did you cut those tiny pieces of styrene?!? Definitely have set the bar for me. Thank you so much for sharing!

Gah, threw me for a loop. Different avatar than ARC, I thought someone was stealing your pictures! Where's the crazy banana signature?

Nice work.....and same type of comment as usual from me, brilliant work!

Thanks for looking! I just use a standard razor to make the chips etc - nothing special. Applied by lightly spearing the bits with a sharp knife into a puddle of Tamiya ET cement and then put in place. Easy

LOL, I can't even remember where I stored that GIF. Maybe Photobucket. It's been a while since I last went there, so may have to revisit it and apply it here. It's pretty cool though

This is mindblowing, so much detail. I wish I could just sit and stare at this thing IRL.

thanks mate. If you live in Australia, maybe you'll get to see it at Melbourne Expo.....2032 when I'm finished it....
hey guys
I've started the roof panels now and added some details onto the body to try and blend it al in a bit better. It's slow work but quite rewarding (well, to me it is)
I'll start making my way forward now and finish off this side and then mentally prep myself to start all over again for the other side! Joy

I only took 5 pictures before the light ran out, so that's it till next time. Which incidentally won't likely be until I have finished most of the other side, so another few weeks away.
I'm also going to take the plunge and teach myself how to use Arduino boards, which ought to be interesting. There's heaps of forums about how to do it, so I reckon I'll pick it up easy enough. (famous last words)
Thanks as always for looking. Feel free to comment - good or bad. You don't need too though
Cheers
Si

Awesome detailing! I think that by doing your own details and not trying to copy a certain studio scale model, makes your model unique. Looking forward to more updates. Thanks for sharing your build.

I've dabbled with Arduino stuff in the past. Adafruit is a good place to learn, with projects and troubleshooting forums. But if you shop around you can find the same items a little cheaper elsewhere.

Thanks very much for the kind posts guys.
Thanks for that suggestion Guns, I'll check it out tonight when I get home from work. BTW, how's your SD build going? Or did you finish it already?
Invar, indeed it is good to feel safe in the knowledge that you're not the only one on a trip to the funny farm. I will admit that this kind of detailing can be therapeutic in its own right, but there does come a few times when you look at what's left to do and you ask "why do I do this to myself?? There's no shame in OOB. Lots of people do it...."
I blame Yatasith for showing me that there is much more to building than just sticking bits together. Not sure if you could tell he was a major influence for me....

Just crawling out of greeblie hell and preparing to enter fiber optic hell lmao, but thank God I've drilled about 80% of my windows and only broke about a dozen bits haha. Seriously though, there came a point when I had to put the greeblies on pause; I'll add more after most of the assembly is complete. Trying to work out a game plan for the lighting as well.

My goal is to get this beastie done by New Year's.

Got any pics? I'd love to see how yours is progressing! You have a real eye for detail

I built one of these last year and it was super time consuming (I spent three days on the lighting alone), I can't imagine how much extra work that detail is.

That said, INCREDIBLE WORK! That extra detail really sets the scale so much better than the out of the box kit, and looks like it will be well worth it.
