Another Star Ship

Bonsai are awesome... I have been raising them for nearly 10 years, now. My favorite is an azalia bonsia I did in the cascade style. Once a year she blooms these beautiful hot-pink flowers... very pretty! And I had a trident maple I groomed for several years. I got her leaves dwarfed down to only an inch before a sudden freeze killed her... very sad for me. When I visit Japan, one of the first things I am going to do is visit the bonsai gardens... It is very difficult to find good bonsai in America. Most artists are too lazy to groom them properly, so they take older trees and cut them back to look like bonsai. It is very disappointing. I am self taught, with the help of John Yoshio Naka. I was lucky enough to find one of his wonderful books. What kind of tree is your grand-father's bonsai? for 25,000, it must be a black pine or fukien tea? Sorry to get off-subject. I just love bonsai! Your model is looking great! :)

That pic looked nice. If you has the rising sun rays behind it and shifted the colors I think it would look really good.

Those edges are looking very clean now.

Beautiful progress Katsu.
It's getting closer to being completed.
Very nice to see.

Aside from the beautiful work, the scale you've managed to imply is amazing. With out a point of reference the ship looks like it could be a 6' model.

Katsu-san, thank you for showing us the pictures of the old shrine and frozen falls. A truely beautiful and peaceful looking place.

You say that the ship is almost ready for a primer coat, that is something that I am very much looking forward to. With all the details pulled together, your ship will look even more impressive.

Cadeus-san, rising a bonsai-tree needs a extreme patience and love for the plants. Because I am fickle and short temper, I would never be able to rise the small tree for more than ten years. I really respect you.
Here in Japan, bonsai is known to be the hobby for the old man or retired person. because, as you know, most of the younger or middle aged are working from 9 AM to 10 or 11PM, from Monday to Saturday sometimes even to Sunday. It's crazy. No time to take care for little trees patiently and even for their family. It's a shame. We are losing a very precious culture.
But it's nice to know somebody in a foreign country love it.

I love azalea(Tsutsuji) too. My father used to rise them in the garden. I think my grandfather's bonsai was a pine. I'm not sure because I was just a kid and the grandfather and my father died many years ago.

Thanks for looking and idea for the logo:love
It may take a little more time to finish the detailing.
I hope I can show you the pics of her in primer next time.:rolleyes

Thank you for your patience Caveneau-san!

Oh, that's the very words I wanted to hear. Working on this build, I've always been focusing and conscious about 'how can I make this 2feet model look huge'
Thank you very much for your kind words kcghostbuster-san.
I really appreciated.

Thank you very much for your comment for the pics. I'm so happy to hear you like those pics. I think, as a member of minority country in this forum, I'd like to post those photo of interesting things or places in Japan from time to time. This is the very unique place in the world. :lol

Also, thanks to your extreme patience for the rather slow progress. I'm hoping I can show you the good result of paint job soon.

Don't forget, Katsu-san, to count all of the individual pieces of this model. We all really want to know how many! :)

No sweat! So far, I'm counting up to 173,456 pieces of individual parts and bits. Some bread crumbs of the sandwich which I left inside and the hair which fell down are excluded. Thank you very much for asking.:thumbsup

Now, think of the size of the sandwich crumbs to the crew of the ship! I'm sure the whole crew could eat very well for many, many days from them! :)

Like so many aspects of the ship's construction, the way you detailed the edge (assuring that the tiny pieces were properly aligned) is brilliant.

Thank you, Tom-san!
Yes, this is a good way to align the bits in straight line.
It's a bit easier and faster for the short tempered man like me.
It was fun to do:lol.

Hi! Mikeee-san

It's a little bit boring pics but here is the progress.

It's a putty time! I hate this job.

Put many strips of sheet plastic on the hull.

I think it's bit too much. I may have to put off some of them.:confused

Katsu-san, you haven't posted a boring pic in this entire thread. In any of your threads, for that matter. The ship is looking great!

Was that an electric tooth-brush with sand-papper on it?!? If not, I am STILL gonna use that idea... very awesome... a micro- mouse sander! :)

Katsu-san,
I think the strips look great, if you think its too much, maybe vary their thickness, some thick some thin, this might help.

Give one section a quick coat of primer, it might flatten it out a bit, or you can add some different widths or shapes from thinner strips, this may also add a different look, just experiment, get some double sided tape and see what looks right to you. Try primer just to see, you might be suprised how much it 'blends' stuff together.

I love the sanding toothbrush, you should market them :lol

Have you decided on a final colour yet?

I actually had built one of those awhile ago, not my video but the same principle that I had for mine. A guy I know that owned a body shop made this for intricate work on interior components and it was pretty much like this.

Thank you, I'm sorry for my slow progress.
I was too optimistic for what I should do.
I hope you keep watching me with kind patience.

Oh, sir. it's very useful and handy. When I patrolling in a dollar shop, I found this tooth brush. I thought it might be able to use for a sanding for a very delicate place. This is very useful more than you may think. I mean it. If you found the battery driven tooth brush, Try this.

Oh.... you are right. Thank you very much for your nailed advice.
The width and the thickness. I got it. I'll give it a try tomorrow.

For the color, I'm still wondering. The pure white is very attractive for those cruise ship but now I'm thinking about the ice cream white and gold.
I'm going to test some mixture of the colors.
Thank you very much, my friend!!!
