Another Star Ship

KC460650.jpg

Because of all the details, I thought this ship was much larger. Your work is even more amazing to me now that I see it's actual size. Even though you have showed us how you have been building this, I still don't know how you do it. :thumbsup

Kon-nichi-wa, Randy-san!
Thanks for looking!
When I had built that 3 foot Tempest, I felt a little difficulty to build it on my small work bench. So I decided the length of this one for 2 foot long. Now I'm regretting that I should have build it 3 foot. The detailing for this ship is sometimes makes me use the large pair of magnifying glasses.

There are some pics of making the lower side of the aft section.

Started with the plane sheet plastic.

Fiber optical sandwiched with sheet plastic.

Cut up the grid on the back side.

Looking fair.

The good things of this method are easy to line up the fibers in a single straight line and bit quicker than drill all those holes.

Then I put all the fibers together and connect to the LEDs face to face.

You'll see the light through the grid from the back side. It's like that great effect by Raytheon-san.
It may be vanished if I paint it but it's beautiful for now.

Sealed the aft hull.

Now I can proceed to the waist section and then to the upper part.

Thank you very much for looking!

Yuumi, your many talents are truly extra-terrestrial in scope!

If I ever visit your fine country, this model is the first thing I wish to see!:thumbsup

Thank you very much for your kind comment.

Visiting Japan will be your most impressive experience(in many ways) and I always welcome you for sure!!

Very impressive, Katsu! (y)thumbsup:thumbsup I've never worked with fiber optic lighting before. This makes me want to start.

Thanks for the comment, crackerjazz-san. The lighting work is one of the fun part of the model building. I want you to try for sure.:love

Looking through your pictures again, I am struck by this one. If I did not know this was a model, I would swear that this view was of a piece from some actual, functioning piece of technology!:popcorn

Thanks for the close attention to my build. :$

This morning, I did a few detailing on the edges around the grill.

The build for the lower part will be finished in another few days.
Then I can start the upper part again.

I'm really thanking your kind supports, my friends.

Hmm...Katsu...I have an idea, maybe!

You know how airplanes have running lights on the wings? What if you did the same here, but have maybe a dozen or probably more lights flashing on each side, since just one would be far too few for something this big. I wondered if maybe that would work here, as even one more way to suggest great size?

It may be too late for this suggestion, but I had to make it!:popcorn

Oh! Yes, That's the one of the idea I think I should have done on my model.:facepalm
Maybe I need a few more flashing LED's and extra optical fibers. :rolleyes
I will try as much as possible by now.:thumbsup
Thanks for the suggestion.
