Another MR Repaint studio Y

Hey all

Just Finished this, and thought you might like to see. It's supposed to be Gold leader,...I think....I'm not sure which is which to be honest, but I like the Tie kill mark.

Pic of the pre shading, it's not ILM's way of doing things but I like the effect it gives.

And a few finished pics

Display base could've been painted better, I shudda done it with a roller or sprayed it. Never mind, might change it in the future.

Looks quite light on these pics, maybe needs a bit more weathering, didn't want to over cook it so I think I held back a bit.
There you go, let me know what you think, please be gentle, it needs a plaque now I'm thinking.

I think it's perfect. Staying light on the weathering is a plus in my book. Too much and it looks like a model. Lighter looks authentic I think. Besides, when you look at in in a normal lighting in a room........it probably looks exactly the way it should.

Agreed - it looks perfect to me. the MR ones were way too dark IMO - you're looks to be about the perfect blend of beat up and dirty while still "loved"

Great job. Much better than I could every do!

The weathering on the canopy is great and looks spot on.

IIRC, the weathering on the front edge of the nose was more of a light brown/rust in color.

Yeah, I wondered about the weathering and the rusty colour of it too, it does look that way in the chronicals...but after looking at the pic in the sculpting a galaxy book it looks more grey.
It looks to me that the front view pic, in the chronicals, has a warm cast and the one showing the rear has a colder/bluer cast.

I chewed it over for a while, and decided that the sculpting pic is more neutral in the way it's printed, so went for that look. I dunno if it's right tho, just looked better to me that way.

I have always loved the Y-Wing more then the X-Wing.

And the weathering does look spot on.
Just one question though...... did Gold Leader's Y-Wing not have the gun like thingys on the top of the canopy?

One reason I like the Y-Wings is that very detail. A directional gun like thing on the canopy. So... did Gold Leader's ship not have them?

Hey Gil, On the pics in my books it doesn't have the canopy guns, but since these pics were taken I've added them. I reckon they would've been there originally, but maybe it fell off between the movie being made and being photographed for the books...

Craig, It's an MR Repaint, I shudda added that to the title in the first place ( added it now)..there's a bit of a tale with it, that's why it doesn't have the genuine base. Too long and boring to go into here...
