Another Gizmo Build (This time in silicone) Updated 7/1/12

Ok originally I sculpted and molded a Gizmo to auction off for a friends charity a few months back. Well now I have decided since I have the molds, why not try and make a silicone version for myself. Here is the link to the original build thread so you can see how the one for auction turned out.

Now on to the new one. I knew I didnt want it to be 100% silicone, but to have any skin areas cast in silicone. So the face, hands, feet and ears are all silicone and the head and body are 10 lbs urethane expanding foam. The eyes are just ping pong balls that have been airbrushed and pop into the foam behind the silicone face.

Airbrushing finished. I just need to attach everything and then fur him. He looks kinda like a chicken in this stage.

Looks awesome,
I really dig how you did the eyes. Can't wait to see it put together.
I just picked up a pair of Gremlin legs from part two to use as reference for measurements so that I can sculpt and cast my own 1:1 gremlins.
I would love to have a Gizmo to go along with them when I am finished.
Yours is one of the best I have seen so far. :thumbsup

Such a great little prop. The eyes make or break this little fella....you nailed it!

Thank you. Well this is the last thing Im going to do with this tonight. I wasnt happy with how thin the charity one turned out so I decided to chop the body in half and make him a little wider. Since the body is expanding foam I can just re-seam him back together with more foam.

Pretty funny that Gizmo looks so cute with fur, but without it I don't think anyone would wanna buy him from the china man.

Looks like he fell into a bucket of Neet.

Other than that he's looking really damn good. but please no more photos of him looking right into the camera.. it's freaking me out man!! :)

I thought the same thing. This looks fantastic. I always wanted a Gizmo growing up. Can't wait to see him finished.

... Also, Dude, chinaman is not the preferred nomenclature. Asian-American, please.

Sorry, couldn't resist.
