Hello All:

Report from Comic-Con..at the DST/AA booth, they displayed the DST/AA TWOK Phaser with a sign that says: Aug 09 release..but when I asked the sales/marketing rep if they are going to keep to that date, the gentleman said: "No..looks like early Sept now"

furthermore, no TWOK Communicator was displayed

*sigh*

Just out of curiosity, HAS THERE EVER BEEN A TREK ITEM THAT ACTUALLY CAME OUT ON TIME?

:unsure

Thanks for the update. As they say, better late then Master Replicas.

Joe

EDIT: Whoops I meant "NEVER" :angel

Oh, for the love of...

I pre-ordered this from my Local Comic Shop LAST FALL and it was supposed to ship in December 2008! :angry

At this rate, it'll be 2015 before they get around to releasing the phaser from Star Trek III and IV! :angry

Perhaps they are still deciding what "phrases" to use from the film. :rolleyes

(Does it really come as any surprise that a DST product has yet again been delayed?)

I'm just being sarcastic- I don't want there to be any "phrases from the movie" for a phaser (even though the preview ad from DST says "authentic sounds and voices from TWOK").

Eh... almost everything Trek has been delayed lately... not just DST, but it took MR forever to release the assault phaser and they only got a couple tricorders out before canceling them indefinitely. Heck, even the movie was delayed in it's release.

It's like the name Trek is cursed.

And yeah... I don't understand the whole talking phaser thing either.

I'm patient. I can wait. I'm more interested in close-up pics of it seperating into two parts. Anyone get good pics?

dude - it takes time dealing with sweat shops in china. I mean - the language barrier, the time difference, time to round up children from villages... bound to be plenty o' delays. :lol

(i'm asian so I'm allowed to go all racial right?):cool

Looks like things are looking up for the phaser.

Packaging.

It appears that Diamond Selects decided to do away with the type-1 phaser since there's no mentioning of it on the package. Personally, I wouldn't miss it since I fear for the piece being too loose.

Also I'm proud to note that the package says "Features Phaser beam light and sound FX!". Why? NO VOICES! I hope this holds out in the final product.

I do wonder why they didn't go with Kirk in his away team jacket that he wore when he used the phaser. He has some pretty cool close up shots that look way better than the one they picked fo this release.

It also doesn't show anything about voices...and on the DST site it still mentions both...

I'm really hopeful that they found someway to deal with the screw holes that were all over the left side of the prototype. I guess if I'm in the mood, I could fill and repaint them myself. But right now, I'm not in the mood.

But I'm far more curious about the chances of DST moving onto Star Trek III items. For some reason, that's my favorite triad of Star Trek props. The tricorder, with its collapsible hood, would make a particularly sweet toy.
