ANH Vader Experts Needed!

Hi all,

I have a Vader helmet that I purchased in 1992. I don't think it was a licensed production. I was told it was a "tour helmet." I'm curious as to it's lineage...I know this is a can 'o worms topic.

Please check out the pics and let me know about it's possible origins...

Thank you!

Re: Vader Helmet Feedback...

Here are a few to start. You'll see it's the ANH version. The paint scheme isn't completely accurate, but the cast itself is nice and sharp.

It is a clean cast...I'm going to say it's a Jeff/GH/FD derivative....especially given when you had bought it. The dome almost looks like that it doesn't belong to that mask...very soft widow's peak. I'm sure the ANH experts will chime in. Either way, it's a nice lid with some history behind it.

Re: Vader Helmet Feedback...

Thanks Kev,

From what I've seen over the years, the smooth "forehead" and other key points on the faceplate have made me think of Ghost Host. Fibredyne (FD) I've heard of, but never seen, and I don't know who 'Jeff' is. Would he be "JD?" I'm guessing that these guys were some of the first replicators in the late '80's and '90's?

Yes, the widows peak is dull, but with the "tour helmet" story in mind, I read a piece on starwarshelmets.com about this happening in some of the quickly thrown together casts for touring. I sure don't know for certain.

I'm anxious to hear from the hard-core's in here!

Thanks...

Also, if it is at all relevant to finding the origins of this thing, the 'tusk tips' are not metal. Probably resin of sorts.

Hi mts, that is a beautiful helmet! I know that someone will be able to help you out with the info you require. If not on here then possibly drop a line to starwarshelmets.com as they have a HUGE amount of knowledge and reference pics of all licensed and non licences SW lids.

Regards
Darren

Thanks Darren!

I sent these very same pics to SWhelmets a few years ago. Surprisingly, they weren't very helpful. Not even a guess as to who the replicator could have been. They suggested that I approach some experts in the US. Maybe there's a new batch of folks there now...

That's why I'm hoping to gain some knowledge here!

Sorry mate, didn't realise:$

I used to have a Fyberdyne helmet, and this looks just like it aside from the missing casted clip on the forehead and it looks like they even covered the holes on the side of the helmet too. So many similarities though! Raw Fyberdyne casting photos.

Hi mts, I am having internet connection problems at the moment, could you just confirm that you received the PM I sent, as others on here didn't get theirs and some got theirs TWICE! lol!

WOW! That's crazy close, isn't it? I really appreciate you bringing these pics to my attention. Did these have a connection with any of the original casts?
