Anh / esb bowcaster

Ok so having no joy finding the horton magnum or even horton safari

Decided to print one and looking into doing both anh and esb variants.

This is where i am so far

I had alot of help from jawajawa with a great build thread here and helped me with any info he has . Top guy

Believe main differences in anh and esb

Metal strips along scope mount / rail ate not on esb

Sights are different between and and esb

Barrel is crushed at one end on esb and sits vetween scope rail and mount


I believe iys still unclear if trigger discs were present in esb or not ?

I have acquired 2 4 x 20 vintage stirling mountie scopes

Body im 90% happty with the shape . The file was quite a bit of work to get as close to accurate as i could including the groove along the top . . Some shaping around the handle etc

Included pics of a mkv1 gas mask bag although seems a crossover between mk5 and mk6 bag looking on various forums etc thats for anh and the right clips .

Esb more the m1 style strap


Did a mock up of the sights but unsure of any info on size etc ?
Have these been found ? Anh seems luke some sort of tube clamp ?


The scope rail and mount . Have these been found atall ? Again trying to get idea on scale etc but no joy as yet

Now working on the front of the bowcaster

Esb shows bracker with a curve that looks like bottom has been sliced flat

Also noticed notch where barrel comes through

Just unsure of the shape of the bottom part that swivels ? Looks like it has a slight radius . No images of the rear though

Any thoughts . Ideas

Still trying to figure out if top of the barrel sight / holder has a small notch at the top. On out side ?

Also done a rough print to see how things sit. Can see ive tried to replicate the notch

Also where sling attaches . Looks like a square type ring ? Holding the bracket to the scope / barrel mount / holder .
Maybe thats why it was bent getting it inplace . The barrel would be held in place via the mount ?

Any sugestions helpful

Trying to work out angles on the barrel support
Looks like its almost touching the limbs but must be a bracket at the rear

Done mock ups and added the notch to top of mount .

Used screw posts / chicago screws

May keep the post inplace on final version to attach ring through as top of mount will be held in place by the barrel

Not many images of esb so if anyone has any side shots of front be much apreciated as at a bit of a stand still at moment

Working on the esb and anh barrel mount and crossbow limb bracket

Esb im more or less happy with


Pics of ESB are even more scarce than ANH . There not many around but the front of the bracket aswell as the barrel support are different

Top of ESB has a small notch cut out where barrel comes out

It also looks closer to the limbs than ANH

The bottom section ( a bit like a pivot joint ) is more squared off lower down .unlike ANH
There is also no fixing in this place in esb . This is where the strap attaches through on ESB

Also the sights at the centre front are round on ESB more of a flat top on anh

M1 sling sourced x2 ..

For anh the gas mask bag with correct clips seems to be mk v1 although thought to be a mk v mkvi crossover

Trying to source the correct type of coiled cords now . Havent came across anything to suggest the right size etc .

Been a while

Progress :

Trigger cover
Scope rail
Anh front bracket and barrel support

Esb bracket and barrel support

Anh barrel seems to angle down

Esb is just off being straight and possibly crushed and seated under the scope rail

Esb front sight will add a different fixing but rather happy so far . The arms are definetly thinner than those on anh

Esb sling and attachments to bow

Rear thinking its as pictured and the o ring goes directly into the m1 garand style clip
The o ring attached to the bkdy the same as ANH


Is it leather loop on the rear of the bowcaster or a webbing ?

Anh front sight and sling

Questions regarding the front loop on anh bowcaster and rear loop held in place with cord on rear of the bow caster .

Is this fabric / mesh type material like some kind of sling or leather ?
Looking at images as its been stated elsewhere there looks to be a bit of a weave in the front one ruling out leather .also it tends to follow the o ring at the front.

Trigger discs ANH . ESB. ROTJ


Ive seen it mentioned that trigger discs wete only seen on ANH bowcaster
Is this true ?

Although evidence seems to support there are more similarities between esb anf rotj than anh . No shots online of esb but have grabbed from rotj and it doesnt have them

Best pic of esb is the promo shoot one but how accurate to the movie ?

Also esb promo pic seems to show larger side plates as opposed to anh which again relays back to rotj style for esb given the online pics and screen grabs available .
No trigger discs on rotj

Thoughts ?

Or input maybe some one can confirm

On the look out for accurate cord or as close as possible for anh and esb

Anh 2 sizes

Esb just same thickness for both cords as opposed to anh which has the bigger and a larger one


Also some accurate sctews in uk . Not just clise but accurate if possible for the side plates

Again any help advice apreciated . Come along way
