And.... I've been recast again.

Ugh, just when you thought this hobby couldn't get any more pathetic.

This time by a very familiar face... Videobob from BTTFStuff.com.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190166846561

Bob posted this up on his website yesterday. Ends up the auction pictures is an original unaltered KIT which I sent to Ken K. (Odoc here at the RPF) about two years ago.

I've heard AT LEAST three or four stories now about how Bob got this part, but what matters is that he has it now and has every intention of recasting it. According to Bob they are already done.

I TRIED to talk with Bob about this yesterday and eventually he said that he didn't care WHERE it came from - he's gonna go though with it and nothing is going to stop him. But, he would love it if I would give him permission to do a run since according to him they are already done by some prop casting shop in the Dallas, TX area.

Golly, what a great deal for me. Of course it sounds like the usual crap I've come to expect from Bob over the years. Everything is my fault and I should be the one to adjust or just agree to whatever demand he has.

I swear these guys know how to suck the fun right out of the hobby.

Dallas? Where is this "prop casting shop". We may need to make a little visit :cool

Wish I knew. Of course since that info came from Bob himself, it's completely suspect.

For all I know woodland creatures in Imaginationland are making them. :rolleyes

Well that's a nice positive way to start a thread. You think the whole hobby is pathetic? Nice.

I'm sorry your work is getting ripped off. Find another hobby. Obviously you'll live longer.

Hey there

I'm sorry to hear that, I just came across this auction about 3 hours before you posted this.... I've been looking for the base pieces for awhile now, do you still sell these??

Noeland,

My apologies for not being very specific and painting my current frustrations with an overly broad brush.

This is not my first run in with Bob and his antics. In the BTTF Delorean area I've found myself dealing with him and a select few others like him on a regular basis.

It is very draining and does take fun out of the hobby.

Am I planning to stop working on my car or close my website because of it? No. I love building and I love trying to help those out their who are sincere in their love of BTTF. Unfortunately for every 100 genuine fans, I get one or two people like this guy.

Sorry, when I see a person in the propping community come right out and say he's gonna recast my work to no complaints from anyone, then I do think things are rather pathetic. Man... I remember back when just thinking someone was recasting your work would be a one way trip to the stocks.

I think it goes without saying that I'll be offering more in the future. No idea what the price will be. However, they will be first generation. Not 2nd or 3 like Bob is selling now.

What this goof-off fails to realize is that the mold shrank over about three years (not to mention it was worn out). This original casting he got was sold as a VERY ROUGH kit. The thing is about 1/4 smaller in diameter than the original real part. So after he makes another mold and castings it will probably be a good 1/2" - 3/4" smaller.

I was originally open to this idea, but have since decided it wasn't worth the hassle.

He flat out told me that he was going to recast it and he didn't care where it came from or who made it.

If there had been even an ounce of genuine remorse in our conversation things would probably have worked out differently.

I'm not going to sanction this type of behaviour. Taking a cut of his profits truthfully feels like blood money to me.

WOW, that's nice considering you all just did the "bury the hatchet" thing and decided to "co-exist"...I knew it would only be a matter of time...didn't think it would only be a week though...
terrible...

Yeah, that must have been some kind of record...

I made an honest effort only to have this pop up. What kills me is that he's been planning it LONG before I offered my hand to make things better for all the hobby in general.

This is the thanks I get. Gotta love it :) At least my board is back up and running now and people won't have to worry about it too much.
