Anakin's Rubies Glove Modified

Hello guys, I am looking for anybody who had bought the rubies Anakin glove and modified it to make it look better. Please give me suggestions or tutorials on how to do this. I really don't want to spend 100$-300$ plus on a leather hide glove. I also suck at sewing and nobody in my house knows how to sew So making my own glove is not an option. Please help me out guys. This is my second attempt on making my own costume. I already have the other components of the Anakin costume. Just need the glove and just waiting for the robe and boots to be shipped to my doorstep. Thank you for anyone who whill respond.

Hi there,

Have you tried the Sith Lord Detachment for info's ... it's more specialised forum in all that concerns Anakin - Darth Vader, although the mentioning of Rubies (or rubbish) may not get the answers you seek. Even if you could sew ... working with leather or fake leather is still a trade and can be quite hard. So what about the cheaper options for this glove given by fenix props? I own an Episode III Anakin costume minus the accurate robe, it already came with a nice glove but I don't know the origin ... since the full costume was purchased second hand ... still I wished it would have come with the Museum Replica boots though. Where did you purchase your robe and boots?

Thanks. So those boots are made by Rubies too? Please share your personal experience once they arrive, okay? Buying leather or leather-like boots online is always tricky ... have you seen the screen-accurate ones being sold by Museum Replicas on ebay? I'll check that vendor for robes ... always good to have options. Please post any pictures to share your props with us :)

Sure once everything is set. I'll post my pictures of the tunics, robes, and other stuff. MIght take a while though standard shipping takes a long time. Haha. I checked the screen accurate boots on ebay and its really good looking. Unfortunately I only have enough money to bargain for what I can spend. Anyway how much did you pay for your second hand costume and can you provide a link on where you got it? Thanks!

I am basing my costume from this. It's Anakin Skywalker Sith. So it's kind of all black. Anakin Skywalker Black Sith.jpg

I know this cosplay and especially screen accurate stuff is a money pit, I received mine from a member here via the Junkyard ... and I still paid quite a lot in British Pounds ... but the screen-accurate real leather boots alone were plenty worth it. I still need to adjust the hems on the inner tunic ... the guy was a lot taller than I ... and the only time I walked the boots I had to wear beach slippers afterwards on the convention due to heavy blisters ... so be aware of proper socks when starting to troop in them. I've read leather boots need to be sucked in water or even urine, then worn when still wet to allow the leather to apply to the shape of your feet ... just never tried it ha, ha, ha :)

You just start what your wallet permits and you can always upgrade certain parts later if need be ... I purchased real leather tabbards from another member here after I disliked the fake ones that came with the costume due to the wrong pattern. My costume is more brown than all black.

Lol how tall are you? Anakin is officially 6'2. I'm only 5'8. I can be 5'10 when I wear dress shoes or winter boots. So I'm still a bit short when costuming. Hopefully when the boots arrived and I get to wear it. I will look at least 5'10 in it. But I'm only 16 so I think I'm still growing. Hopefully I will still grow to at least 6 feet! Haha.

Ha, ha I'm about 6'0 but the inner tunic was coming from underneath of the leather tabbards ... so I need to adjust the hems and yes I do know how to sew ... let's suffice to say I'm old enough to wear the Emperor's robe and almost look the part as seen in TPM without any make-up LOL. As for you being sweet 16 at 5'10 and growing ... always make certain to have your picture taken from a little lower than your hips upwards when wearing your Anakin costume... that way you always appear taller and more menacing ... yeah I'm a photographer by trade hence my advice ;)

Thanks for the advice! Anyway do you know the reason why museum replicas don't sell the Anakin costumes anymore? Just wondering. Because I would just buy there if they still sell. Also how do I add you? I'm new here in the rpf .

I suppose they may have lost the license to replicate SW costumes and parts or people were no longer able to purchase their heavier priced merchandise so they just stopped producing altogether. Sometimes you can still find Museum Replicas stuff on ebay just use their name in the search engine ;) I was just a bit hesitant about their Anakin III Robe ... it just looked thinner and less wool like as opposed to their Obi-Wan ROTS which I happen to score by mere chance for $200 + shipping and which you could use for a heavy blanket to sleep outdoors that's how warm it is :)

If you click on my avatar name Sym-Cha you'll see my personal profile and are able to befriend me ... then I'll be notified to accept your invitation ... just be a little patient because I'm about to go to bed now and I'll be heading home tomorrow afternoon ... so I might be coming online when I arrive and then accept you, okay?

:)

Did you also acquire a second pair of tabbards made from the same fabric as your outer tunic and obi, which goes underneath the leather tabbards? Also those cloth tabbards for Anakin in Ep. III start from behind tucked underneath the obi then go over the shoulders to the front. I never knew this until I got my full costume either and did some research on the real costume ;)
