Greetings! I’ve just recently joined and wanted to introduce myself with something cool. I've been working on this little baby since the District 9 DVD came out. I hope no one minds my color scheme, I wanted to be unique. Opinions and critiques are welcome, thank you.

Holy...!!! :eek Details! Parts list! More details!
Need the info!
I simply don't have the words!

Nah, the colour scheme completely ruins it.
Go away.
You suck.

;)
I'm joking, it's awesome!

Although the colour scheme makes it look like someone told the Prawns "Sorry... No UKARA registration, you need to buy a 2-tone instead"!

What is it made of? If you say pepakura, I may have to kill myself.

The only criticism I have is that the electrode tips look like they need some corrosion weathering. That thing is pure win!

Are you making any more weapons from the movie?

wait, you built the Arc gun from scratch, what is it made of, any light up or moving features?
my only issues is the green color scheme, other than that the Arc gun looks so damn fantastic, like a real prop. Super Awesome job!!!

Great Arc. Would love to hear more about its construction.

Also love the green paint scheme. Very in keeping with the original concept.

Wow, alot of love...I'm blushing. :$
I made the original out of wood (MDF, 2x4, masonite) The details I cheated a little on, I made them in the computer and cut them at work with a little CNC thing we have here. They were cut in hard foam and I made silicones and sanded and cleaned up the rough edges. (the photo's don't show it, but there is still some stuff that could use more sanding)
I actually built the original in about a week, back when the movie was still in theatres. What started it was seeing the e-bay auction and that beautiful side photo, I always love making replicas, but I hate it when I can't find the right reference. (which I love the reference threads here, you guys, and gals, are just awesome beyond words for the things you post) :cool
But then a friend of mine bumbed the gun off the precarious place I had it (not alot of room in the garage here) when I had it almost finished and it broke into 4 or 5 large pieces and I lost some of the details on the front, so I was heart-broken for months. :cry
When the DVD came out I forced myself to finish. I'm glad I did, I made the decision to make molds of it and I was able to finish out and clean up many of the things I was rushing thru the first time. What you see is actually one of the castings I made, all cleaned up. The gun is in about 10 or more parts and I use some of the parts to hide bad seams in the castings.
I'll try to take some closer macro shots, but time being what it is, I'm prepping for Comic-con.
Again thanks for the love, I will post more stuff as I get the nerve.:lol

I have decided that open registration rocks as long as it brings folks like yourself to our board. Simply outstanding!
You'll learn though, we here are VERY fond of progress pictures!
Again, stellar work!
