AMT Romulan BOP/ TOS

LOL, What your telling me its not? Oh boy.....

But it really is Fantastic.

I do thank you for the kind words and the good news is that the final clear coat is curing and this should get wrapped up later today maybe?

Originally I examined the kit pieces and saw that they were trying to emulate the "bulbous" appearance at the front of the nacelles. For all I know the original studio model might have used "bulbs" up there. It's not a simple 'half-sphere'.

I did try to separate the glass bulb of an automotive lamp from the metal base and cracked a few. So, frankly I gave up on that idea. But it's always bothered me?

Well, over sixteen bulbs later I have finally done exactly that. Two, from nearly twenty attempts but I think it will look better.

Snapped some quick "quasi finished shots":

And here's the lighting:

The engines:

And the seperate rear modes. When on the "thrusters" ,they flicker:

And the weapon although it was hard to catch as the outside LEDs fade in and then the middle bursts as they outers dim.

The decal fiasco delayed it by a week- and of course caused a lot of extra effort but I hope you like the results!

Thanks to those dropping in and especially anyone who has been following along. It's been fun and now this one is looking for a home!

WOW, that looks great. Really like how it turned out. Wasn't too sure about the bird but it grows on you. I now think the bird fits in really well.
Great to see her finished and look forward to your next build-up project!

Can you tell us what you are planning next?

Kenny

The only thing I would change is possibly tint/frost the bulbs so the nacelles glow more evenly rather than shining a point of light. Other than that I love it!

Despite the pics- they don't really shine a point of light. There are faceted covers in place both front and rear so you don't get the pinpoints of light like a bright LED might emit. Early in the tread you can see what went behind the domes and I think I also showed what is now within the rear caps as well.

So, thank you for your kind words.:cool

Yeah, that breed of bird is an acquired taste. Not really like "chicken" at all.:lol I'm glad it grew on you though.

Well, the decal saga delayed me from a Niesen Tie which sits patiently awaiting my full attention. I guess I can get to it now.:)

oh you mussssssssssssst make a video

I would and could, but last time a made just a few short clips it ate up a whole lotta my available space on the image hosting site??? I'd be afraid to get forced into paying for extra capacity just to share????:confused

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudgsicles... was away for 6 weeks of sculpting and just now another month of trying to get back in touch with the rest of the world. Recalled this thread tonight... well, all I can do is wish you better luck on the next try.
