Hello everyone, finally after almost 2 years away from the workbench i was able to get back to some modeling project. This is my latest. The kit is from 1999 and while not being up to today modern standards it's still a pretty neat kit, of great size and fun to work on. The assembling is pretty straightforward, the main body and turett is made out of only a dozen of big pieces. It needs some attention and care to avoid nasty seam lines and gaps, but nothing too dramatic. I painted the whole thing with tamiya acrylics, making my own mixture of dark yellow, tan and red brown. I'm not really sure about the percentages because i pretty much eyballed the whole thing and made a lot of testing on plastic spoons before committing to a color. Here are some pictures of the final result, the weathering process and the assembled, unpainted model. Enjoy.
The colors used:
Most of the weathering was done by hand with vallejo silver and a very thin brush. I usually use faster methods, like hairspray chipping and sponge chipping but this time i wanted a greater control on the result. i also applied some liquid latex mask to make the bigger chips, especially around the frontal launch tubes.
The rest was done with oil paints, one of my favourite weathering techniques.
Some bonus pictures of the unpainted, assembled model.
As always, questions are more than welcomed.
Cheers.
