Ambitious Lightsaber Mod - Help/Advice Needed

As an owner of the BladeBuilders electronic Luke Skywalker lightsaber, one thing that really bugs me is that the blade doesn't fully collapse; in fact, it doesn't collapse into the hilt at all.

My plan to correct this was to disassemble the lightsaber and install the blade (including the electronics) into my pre-BladeBuilders Obi-Wan lightsaber:

I was planning on disassembled the Obi-Wan hilt, removing the blade and replacing it with the electronics and blade from my Luke lightsaber, before modding the hilt to my own custom design with extra parts, etc.

My question is thus: with the electronics inside the hilt, would the blade still be able to collapse fully like on the normal lightsaber toys? I've never seen the inside of either type of lightsaber before, so I absolutely have no idea.

Help me RPF, you're my only hope.....

Modding at the lightsaber is like looking at the future, until you've opened it what do you really know? And then, of course, it's too late.

Bonus points for anyone who can tell me who's quote I just ripped off. Lol!

Hey,

I tried something similar to an AOTC Anakin lightsaber a few years ago. The short answer is it was a complete failure. There's just wasn't enough room inside to collapse the blade, hold the batteries, board, speaker and LED. That's why they're designed like that with the blade already half extended. I haven't looked at the new blade builders stuff but im pretty sure you're probably going to come up against the same issue.

Hi +IamSteve.

Thanks for the reply. It's a shame to hear that this won't be possible, but that's life I suppose.

Kind regards, The14thDr

Merlin from Excaliber! Good stuff.

BTW, sorry about the dilemma.
