These are pics of my U.S.S. Excalibur built from the 1/1400 scale AMT Yamaguchi kit. Illumination is provided by gow bulbs included with the kit; if I had it to do again I would use LED's.

This kit was a real bear to work with being molded in brittle clear styrene. I can't tell you how many times I had to touch up the paint on the saucer rim from accidentally bumping it against the edge of my workbench! :eek:unsure
I used Testors ModelMaster enamels with an overspray of transparent silver-blue metallic for the final finish. After decaling the model was sealed with future followed by 2-3 coats of satin semi-gloss lacquer and 1 coat of flat.

Awesome!

So what part of this are you most proud of?

Probably the paint job. I did a lot of masking and layering to match the look of the Yamaguchi studio model. I still didn't much care for that baby-blue color scheme though which is why I did the silver blue metallic overspray. I figured since it was technically not the Yamaguchi per se I could get away with it.
Secondly would be the windows. I used a special technique to get them perfectly oblong with rounded ends. Nothing spoils it for me more than uneven window frames.
Thank you for the compliment!
