What is the deal with the removal of all the Star Trek movies from Netflix ? at one point they had all of them and slowly removed them one by one and then…..bang…. they all got removed except nemesis, why ????

Was there licensing problems ?

Was it to expensive for them to air them ?

Will they ever return ?

it deeply worries me that in order to watch all of them I have to buy them on dvd, it honestly straight up sucks

Anyone know anything about this ?

Netflix: We've done far worse than kill you. We've hurt you. And we wish to go on... hurting you. We shall leave you as you left us; marooned for all eternity in the center of a dead queue... with nothing to watch! Nothing to watch!

Netflix: They task me. They task me and we shall have them! I'll chase him 'round the episodes of TV shows and 'round the Neflix Originals and 'round perdition's flames before I give them up!

Nothing on netflix lasts forever. I've had netflix since the beginning of the online service and the trek films have gone and cone back before.
Personally, I'm waiting for the Stargate franchise to come back. (I'm in canada)

Yeah I don't think it is anything more than that movies come and go there seems to be only a certain among of space or more likely budget the have for there streaming at one any given time I just hope the put red dwarf back on next years when there are new episodes to add

They add and remove things all the time. I had just got into season two of "Magnum" when they pulled it.

If you have Amazon Prime you can watch all of the Stargates for free there.

Since CBS has its own streaming service (where the new ST series will be shown), makes sense that they'd start letting other contracts end so they can have their own properties for their own service.

This is what I'd expect.

CW and CBS shows used to be available on Comcast's Xfinity online streaming service. No more. Now they're on CBS' paywalled service.

The new Star Trek 2017 streaming system is a disgrace, all it is is marketing and all about money, NOT to continue the great invention of Gene Roddenberry, but to make money. If they cared truly about fans they would put it on channel 9 or whatever ( CBS ), every saturday for a couple months an then make it a seasonal show. Not having it online on a website that no one uses ( CBS all access )

Sorry for ranting , I just had to say that to people who love star trek, because I know few where I live !!!!

No offense, but what "sucks" about buying something you clearly love so much on home media that you can watch anywhere, anytime, without being beholden to an online distributor? I don't know about you but I like to actually own the films I enjoy.

Technically, you're beholden to CBS who could pull the show from its available online library at any time. As I understand it, you pay CBS for access to their streaming service -- just like Netflix -- and what's supposed to make you want to do that is the content they make available to you -- like Star Trek.

Essentially, this is no different from HBO putting Game of Thrones behind a subscription paywall, which nobody bats an eye at, or Netflix putting Daredevil behind its own paywall, which nobody bats an eye at, or Amazon putting The Man in the High Castle behind its own paywall, which....well, you get the idea.

The only reason people are peeved is because they'll have to pay a new fee to view Star Trek. That said, I'd expect that CBS will put the new show both on Bluray, and on other services like XBox Live, Amazon Video, and the Apple iTunes store for purchase. So, you can pay for the season (or per episode), or you can pay CBS for access to their whole library.

So, yeah, it's about money, but...so what? To my way of thinking, the only reason people would be pissed about this is that they used to be able to get Trek for free in reruns, or live on network TV. I'm guessing CBS has seen the success of HBO's streaming service -- driven in large part by people wanting to see Game of Thrones -- and figured they'd do the same with Trek. It's not "sticking it to the fans," and CBS has no obligation to make the show available to you for free just because you really love the brand.
