A bit of an obscure addition to the armoury! Alita's 'Tuned pistol' from the original 'Battle Angel Alita' (Gunnm) manga.
In the manga, following her Motorball career, Alita spends ten years as a 'Tuned', one of an elite force created by the Tipharean Ground Investigation Bureau (Tiphares became 'Zalem' for the movie). As a Tuned agent, she operated mostly alone, carrying out various missions in the dangerous Badlands outside the Scrapyard, until her attempted replacement by a series of combat 'AR' (Alita Replacement) androids.
Like all Tuned agents, Alita had access to far more sophisticated weapons than those developed on the surface, including projectile and beam weapons. One of these is this beast of a pistol, which has a high capacity magazine and uses high velocity armour-piercing rounds with a very long range. The pistol has a system lock that prevents it from being used by a non-TUNED or against other TUNED agents.
I've liked the look of it ever since I first read the manga more than two decades ago, and seized the opportunity to add it to my collection when I found some good STL files on Cults3D. It's purely a static display prop, although it does have a detachable magazine, and I modelled some separate rounds for it to match the sculpted ones in the magazine. It's solid resin, so has a nice heft to it.
Printed on my Elegoo Mars resin printer. Due to its size, I had to slice the original files into several smaller parts to fit the printer's build volume and then reassemble them when I built the gun. It's finished with a graphite rub over a matt black basecoat, and weathered with oil wash and silver Rub 'n' Buff. The rounds are airbrushed with Alclad Polished Brass and Copper.
I like that it works so well as a 'real' object, when in fact it exists only as drawings in the world it's from.
