Tried asking this on the old thread regarding this movie, but found it , ummm...., inappropriate...
Just watched the film again..., and was still very impressed by it all.

So , I’m just wondering if anyone has heard anything about a possible sequel ?

Appreciate your post joberg , but watching the extras on the blu-ray I thought Cameron handed the project over to Rodriquez...., and was quite happy with the resulting film.
I understand that Cameron is making his Avatar films , but would have thought that a sequel or two for the Alita films were warranted...., she’s gotta get Nova !:ninja:

God, I would absolutely LOVE to see a sequel to this film. Not since 2012's 'Dredd' has a film been so under-rated or deserved a sequel more.

I've loved the mangas since I started reading them in the 1990s and I'd almost given up on the long-promised live action movie. When it was suddenly announced I was torn between joy and trepidation. I had huge faith in Cameron and Rodriquez as fil-makers... but it was probably the film I was anticipating the most since Star Trek: The Motion Picture back in the 70's! I was so nervous that it wouldn't live up to my hopes.

Well... suffice to say it did. From the moment the 20th Century Fox logo decayed into 26th Century Fox and I saw Zalem and the scapyard I knew I was in safe hands. It was everything I'd hoped for. It went into my top 5 films the same day I saw it. Yep... it's up there with the Blade Runner movies, Bride of Frankenstein and The Day The Earth Stood Still! :)

Will we get a sequel? My heart wants so badly to say 'yes'... but my head says no. It's been nearly two years now, and despite the best efforts of the Alita Army, God bless 'em, and the continued positive attitude of Cameron, Rodriguez, Landau and Rosa Salazar, I think we would have heard at least some hint by now if there was any real hope. I think the bad luck combination of it coming out just as 20th Century Fox were absorbed into the corporate monolith that is Disney, being a relatively unknown subject and up against Marvel, the victim of a strangely muted (even negative) response from the critics, and a poor US box-office (mitagated somewhat by the positive international response) means that it's going to be another of those films that should have been hugely more successful than it was.

Such a shame. But maybe I'll be proved wrong and our live-action Alita will finally get to take on Jashugan, go to Zalem and confront Nova. If it ever does happen I'll be first in the queue, cash in hand!
