So- Bought one of Chef's excellent kits and jumped in the deep end with my first build.
Trimmed (Not a huge job at all), rounded the sharp edges and scruffed the whole thing with steel wool to provide a key for the paint.
Holes cut, nice sunshine-baked matt OD spray job
Got the lobster plates hanging right. Camera fitted with some rubber-toughened methacrylate resin I liberated from work
Inside is a real M1 helmet liner with a slot cut for the earpiece and neoprene foam instead of the suspensions system
Painting up the camo, using my chest plate for reference- with a bottle of Marston's Old Empire IPA 'hand steadying formula' handy
Ageing with 50/50 water and citadel ink, working from the top down to give that washed down grime look
The finished article: aged, weathered with a little bit of graffiti tallying combat and simulated drops
Boom mike made from an old airsoft inner barrel and some greebles I had lying about the bit box.
