Yep. I've been hand sewing everything, and it probably saved me several hours work.
That’s pretty genius using the oven mitts. Bravo on that one. Can’t wait to see the finished uniform
Little bit of progress now that my knock off Cons made it in. Lugz we’re way too big. So they went back. Ideally, I’d like to use some PF Flyers but haven’t had any luck yet.
Onto the fun.
I had a lot of zip-ties and so I used Mike J.’s method in painting the D-rings. Worked well.
Faux leather here but got some more accurate looking material on the way. I should finish up the lacing tabs tonight then onto the front toe bumpers. Lastly paint and weathering
Also made sure I didn’t forget about that third eyelet on the inside Didn’t come out identical to the others, but hey. It’s there, haha.
Depending on how they look finished, I may remake the D-rings with some others I have. ‘Till the next one.

Shoe update:

I also ordered a cheap Brett hat to beat up and weather. Looks decent enough. I plan to make something a little more to my liking sometime down the line.
Finished the first shoe and it looks…okay. Probably should have made the tabs a bit more skinny. Learning what to-do and what not-to-do on the next ones

Thank you very much. To cut the rubber I used a rotary fabric cutter, ruler, and calipers. Clear Gorilla Glue gel to attach them.
I have a pair of PF Flyers on the line which are my ideal shoe. Both for comfort and looks. Hopefully I can snag those

Decided to give the watch a-go. Went with the Casio F-91 because of its size. Fits me wrist a bit better. I also went brushed metal because it’s different and curious how it would look. I like it.
Surround from Shapeways. Ima clean it up more and then repaint. In my excitement I rushed to piece it all together Just based on how cool this looks, I may still get a couple of the A-100(s). Lol. Slightly more accurate too.

Agree. I’ve always liked the watches of Alien and Aliens. Excited to have something like the original.Lovely details like the watches are a must for that costume
I went ahead and bought a couple Casio
A-100 watches (one off eBay for $30!) and another surround from Shapeways. Version 2 should be a little more accurate.

As mentioned, here is the progress on the Casio a-100we.
I bought the chrome/silver one. Very shinny. Didn’t like that so I decided to dull it down with a flat clear coat.
After the clear coat I forgot about the buttons. No problem. Grabbed some tape and a leather hole punch.
Finished results and the watches are, well, more dull. Lol.
I am considering painting black to be more accurate. However I’m going to try this look out first and move forward from there. Next post will be the finished a-100s and PF flyers
Before I go, here are the finished v.1 shoes (pre weathering).
I’d really like to put a WY water slide decal on the heels or something like that. So if anyone knows someone or you yourself can help me, I’d be very grateful.

I’m in just as much shock at finding it as the rest of you. Which is why I’m not worried too much about the condition.
As for as the modification, you’d probably know better than me. Lol. It did say 1960s so maybe there is some differences.

NostromoCrew, you were correct. Looking off the measurements and I actually emailed the company, the sleeves are much shorter than originally. About 2 inches shorter.

I have only seen this jacket in green before, did they make them in this brown colour also? Or dyed for the film?
So far in my short research I’ve only seen it in olive. NostromoCrew mentioned to me, and I’m inclined to agree, Ripley’s was dyed brown.
For the one being made I think im going to just go w/ a brown fabric. In my experience dyeing a garment that size evenly can be difficult.
The original one I ordered will stay as-is.
