airwolf has met blue thunder

i have had an aoshima airwolf for some years now - i bought it when it first came out before prices doubled................but there has always been another iconic helicopter missing, and that is of course blue thunder. i have only really found model kits and i wanted a diecast but im not a fan of buying from japan and having them lost, or damaged in transit. (i like the boxes mint too)

so roll on london comic con 2 weeks ago and i spotted a diecast blue thunder by organic (boxed damaged). but the £150 uk pounds price altho i could justify it due to it being an import my pockets were not deep enough after buying the gremlin.

2 days later i search ebay and managed to stumble over the organic diecast blue thunder and nearly fell off my chair when i saw the price. it was £75 uk pounds delivered, ok it came from japan and with it being ebay and paypal i took the risk.

9 days later it arrives (today) with no import tax to pay, no damage to the box or product..............................and what can i say about the model:

WOW its awesome, totally blew me away as it was bigger than i expected, andi wasnt expecting the level of detail it has......i love the japanese for the work they put into things, alot of delicate parts on it, very heavy too, the detail is excellent imo, anyway i thought id take some pictures as the net doesnt have any decent images of this really:

I have one and I love it dearly but without bursting your bubble there are inaccuracies with it (though it's easily the best representation to date!) I couldn't live with so I've been in the process of adapting parts from the old Monagram kit to replace the dodgy bolt-on's. Looking at your great pics of it in-situ I wish I'd not bothered but ive committed now- starting with transforming the pilot from generic policeman to Scheider's Murphy. If it goes well I may post it up but meantime- congrats on the purchase...!!!

i agree there are little things - lights would be nice, and spinning rotors and i noticed form the pre prduction model there are a couple of things on it that didnt come on the production model.

but i still love it as it is - better than i imagined it would be. but it didnt break the bank at 70 quid, airwolf cost me more than that.

just noticed tho roys on the left in the helicopter as he is in the film, dvd cover shows him on the right - so the artworks innacurate on the dvd as its been flipped (notice the gun as well) lol

Blue Thunder is a great film, and that's a very very nice replica, but LOOK AT THAT AIRWOLF!!!!!
Awesome, dude!!! Remember, the ADF pod is undeployable above mach 1....:lol

so glad i bought airwolf all those years ago - they still crop up on the bay but there double sometimes triple the price i paid, the airwolf has spinning blades, and retractable landing gear. and you can display it with weapons hot or weapons hidden

would have liked to have something other than the dvds under the wolf tho to have it at that height, have to keep an eye out for a perspex stand maybe

I cry that I never got one, and they're too much $$ for me now... Still, I have the model

My brother bought me that many years ago, but it was blue.

That is pretty cool, seeing them together. I'm still shocked no one has remade "Airwolf." At least not yet!

I'd say I love Airwolf more, but Blue Thunder definitely ROCKS! It's great you have them together in your case.
