Hi,

I've been trying to sell my Chewie15 Yoda for a while but have had no luck :(

I last tried e-bay but he only reached $300 which is less than basic casting.

Please can anyone give me some feedback as to why he's not selling & what is a reasonable price, as I can only think that I'm asking too much.

Thanks very much

Lance

Another member posted about having some trouble selling an X-wing pilot helmet. It was pointed out in that tread that we are in Tax Time. Some folks are getting refunds, while others are having to pay. There are also folks still paying off the Christmas bills. You might try waiting a few months. Let it get into summer or fall and try again.

There also appears to be waining interest in Star Wars items, and prices are down across the board. The movies are finished. The new animated series won't start until sometime in 2008, and the TV series starts in 2009. You know the old saying: Out sight, out of mind. We'll just have to wait and see if those new series rekindle interest.

I almost forgot: Great looking Yoda :thumbsup

New user here, so take my opinion for what it is worth: As the previous poster observed, interest in SW items seems to be on the decline (though blasters and lightsabers do seem to retain their popularity). In addition, I think the fact that a number of latex Yodas have come out for sale in recent months may affect yours, assuming it is a solid casting. Finally, shipping is increasingly an issue, especially international shipping. Add those up, and a heavy prop that isn't as "sexy" to the part-time collector takes longer to sell.

I'm sure you'll succeed, though. Your Yoda looks fantastic. ;)

Well, for me, not matter how much the original castings were, and how much time and money were put into painting and robes, an item like that is only worth (to me) about $300-$350.

If I was going to spend more then $400 on something, I would be looking for much higher-end pieces (balance pipe, MPP, VM or GH Vader helmet). Your Yoda is awesome, but it's not worth more then $350 to me.

I think its the basic interest thing... based on what I spent on my Chewie Yoda, coupled wth my paint up and hairdo, I wouldn't let it go for less than a grand. But I'd never get that much for it...

Historically on this board, smaller size figures.......jawas, ewoks, etc..... have sold for around 300-500. Not sure what your asking price is, but that may be the thing. If you could put something in the pic that shows his true size, maybe that would help. I think he's a very nice looking Yoda. His robe needs more accurate fabric perhaps, but that is the only thing that jumps out at me.

Dave :)

Thanks for the responses Guys. :)

I guess I can kiss my idea of a MR falcon goodbye, I never expected to make a profit on him but I thought I would a least get what I paid for him. :cry

Yeah, the demand thing sticks out in my mind. It took me forever to get rid of all my ROTJ Vader, if this had even been a year ago it would have all been snatched up no sweat.

It's a beautiful piece though all the same Lance. Are you going to hang onto it?

I'm having the same problem with my 'cking' yoda.

I've noticed a lot of other props eithe rnot selling or fetching prices which would have been double this time last year.

Don't know what it is specifically, maybe the time of year combined with no new movies, but the SW props market seems dead at the moment...

Or people are saving up for up-coming stuff?

There are many reasons I can think of... but it's a great looking Yoda... very nice build-up. :thumbsup
He looks very sad in the picture, though... and his eyes are kinda dark.

I guess I'll hang on to him, I would be crazy to sell him for as little as $300.
I might ask him to go out and earn his keep though :D

I don't think his eyes are really that dark I think it's just the low resolution photo. :)

Thanks again Wackychimp

I think you did a great job with the Yoda. I'd be proud to put it on display. Have you seen others selling for more recently? If it's not the product, it might be your feedback. I don't know how your eBay feedback rating looks, but I personally check out a seller's feedback before I go too high with my bid.

Actually, I want one of Howard's Yodas- but I'd want to enjoy painting it myself unless I got a great deal on it.
