Adobe Illustrator - How to use it to print off your blueprints.

The box on the screen just shows you your paper size, anything outside the box will not be printed. If you want simple and low tech, "group" your blueprints and move them each time you print so that you end up with a bunch of sheets that when taped together will make your larger blueprint.

Artboards are treated differently depending on what version of Illustrator you haveand I'm guessing that if you see a blue box it's a pretty old version.

Actually, I have CS6. I was hoping that it was an art board issue :(
I figured out the "move and print" method, is there a way to get it orginised to print it out all at once over multiple pages?

I think I need your printer Mike! :)

Really? Interesting. No blue box on mine, you must have some setting turned on. Got a screen shot?

Yes there is but it would be easier to do in Adobe InDesign. Do you have that program?

Try this:

- Create a document that is the size you need

- Click "Print"

- In the print dialogue click "Setup"

- Where it says Tiling select "Tile Full Pages"

Presto, printed on multiple pages automatically.

I always use Photoshop to create prints for my Illustrator files. If you copy and paste in vector objects, Photoshop can maintain the vector properties, and you can set the document to 200-300ppi for a really good print. I've found it's really easy to set the document size in inches within photoshop (make sure to allow for a print margin) and then use rulers to line up the vector image with the print size.
