Accurate Vickers Viscount 700 Series Reading Lamp project

Doing the final review of the blueprints to post on Thing-I-Verse, I was shown that the gap between the grasp and the lens carriage was missing.
After measuring everything we found that the threaded cylinder was 0.040 to tall....about equal to what the gap should be.
I sent them back to the machinist and they should be ready for pickup tonight.

Switching gears a little bit .. we have one of the r2builders who is creating the actual plastic replica of the grasp.
We are giving him all the support he needs to make the perfect replica.
In the mean time we've had some feedback about possibly making grasps out of AL.
So comments were made with concerns about r2 tipping and falling and the plastic being damaged.

I talked with the machinist about expanding the role the the temporary AL grasps to actual production quality pieces.
One of the issues is getting geometry that is inherent to molding from machining...such as the parting lines.
If anyone has any suggestions...any input would be greatly appreciated.
Here is what we have come up with so far....

The inner and outer parting lines look pretty good.
It looks like we are closing in on completing the R&D on the grasp.

-Doug talked to the EDM shop to make sure the next batch does not have the start/stop ridge.
-We ordered a 1-5/8 tap to make sure the finished threads are squeaky clean
-Going to take about 0.005 off the outer simulated parting line
-Going to make the outer simulated parting line tapper to nothing on right side.
-Doug has indexing idea that allows proper fillets on end of ribs
-Made a plug for the press fit so that the thread plug does not get distorted when pressed.
-Decision to try a set in titanium
-subtract 0.005 from inner parting line to make correct dimension once painted. (and give better shadow if left unpainted)
