Accurate Vader belt fastening?

I got that pic here on the RPF.

That's David Prowse from a British tv show made during/after ESB holding a weird Vader saber. I believe they were in Elstree on a SW set for the tv show, with some of the props and costumes on display. I guess is was '78-'80.

That should be one of, or made up from, screen used ESB Vader costume pieces.

Is that TV show the one where only one taped copy is known to exist and that was never shown again ?

And yes, that lightsaber looks really weird, definitely nothing screen used. Maybe this was promotional too ?

There was a thread about this specific saber some time ago, where I posted a pic of a mockup...Graflex top-shell plus a kobold/ linhof flash for the lower grip section. No grips, no clamp...nada.

Its not easy when you knew your right and then suddenly know your wrong. This happend to me today!!!


I had a very strong opinion about beeing right about the fastning of a belt from ESB/ ROTJ was with fastning on the back... ( I was so sure ) I checked with the photos i was sure to possess and it was non on the belts that had the closure in the back.

thats a graflex saber made to look like a vader somewhat. you can clearly see the ears of the graflex. looks like they added a plate and painted it black to kinda resemble the black vader shroud. you can even see where the red button went.

So, what's that absolute correct width of the Vader ESB belt? And thickness of the leather? Distance of the etched lines from the edges?
