Accurate money bricks

Hi all,

I've seen several companies that make prop money for various movies. Unfortunately, they seem to be rather expensive if you want to get a really realistic money bricks. The kind of big brick you'd see in a bank robbery kind of scene. Problem is - most of these guys want around $500 for such a pack.

I'd really like packs that the paper is not just a uniform-cut block of paper with two bad replicas on top/bottom and not very realistic bill wraps.

Anyone got some tips for this one?

it all depends on how they need to be seen. The standard is the first few top and the last few bottom notes will be printed with everything between blank. It saves on ink for something nobody will ever see. Its all in the paper. You can also age the ends as a whole to help visual appeal.

To do accurate currency you need an older printer and an XP or pre XP operating system computer thats not connected to the net. Or if you like a knock at your door, use your new computer and printer connected to the net. Newer printers are usually coded to not print accurate $$$ files, nor scans...

Some Batman money stacks, one bill top and bottom, all filler between:

There is also the foam block version with the top and bottom (and sometimes the sides) print outs then glued on. Thats what this is yet the sides are duct taped as the money is wrapped in plastic:

I'm making a briefcase full right now and found some good "casino night" hundreds on the bay for pretty cheap. My bank was happy to provide the wraps, but since I got 100 $100 dollar bills (more than I need for the case) I think I'll do some foam blocks as well, they look really cool!, Thanks for the post :cool:thumbsup

I know you usually get the bill wraps from a bank for free.
Check out this backyard Fx video on making a briefcase full of cash.

Great video.
Thanks for the link, :thumbsup dying the stacks is something I didn't think of.:)

for the foam block itself, look at the green florists foam. You can get it at crafts stores but its also at various dollar stores. Bring a bill or three to size a block up. If memory serves you can get up to three blocks off a single brick if you cheat the size a tad.

Pretty much finished this up, I just have to take a stack out back and put a slug through it to match the hole in the case (shot that earlier ;) ) not super accurate but I think it will hold up for a few seconds of screen time. The closest Copy Works (for cutting the stacks) is 40 miles one way, so I borrowed an antique (practically :lol ) paper cutter from a buddy and spent 2 nights chopping with GOT season 3 playing. :)

Finished briefcase looks great!
What actually caught my attention was that paper cutter you used... have a similar model (REXO JR 3) that is a little smaller that I use for bookbinding. Cool.

This is a cool page, liked the vids, ive done some blanks of english prop money! see my signature for the link and if you can use them, then enjoy :D

Thought I'd post a pic of the cash after it got blasted with a .45 hollow-point :)
