Hello,
I'm interested in info regarding a screen-accurate C-3PO head to replace the one on my Sideshow lifesize statue (see my post in the new member section of The Junkyard). I have a painter lined up to match the paint scheme with the existing body. To me, the head is always the money shot when viewing a lifesize piece, so I'm looking for something near perfect!
I'm not as concerned about price as I am about close lineage to a screen used helmet. I checked out the links to the helmet replicas on TK-409's page, and am not really sold on those versions based on the pictures I received. I attempted to win the auction that Jez from starwars helmets had recently, but lost out in the final seconds. I exchanged emails with Gino about his casting, but no dice on him parting with it. I hear a lot of talk about Zorg helmets, but don't know much about them. I see a user on this site with that name. Maybe that's who I should be talking to? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I also own a Don Post C-3PO replica and I've read a lot about the lineage of it. While it looks great from many angles, it does not look great from all angles. IMO the features of the face are not as crisp as I'd like them to be. For example, 3PO has two triangle lines that make up his nose. The upper triangle on the DP statue is not very pronounced. In addition, the cheek areas do not seem as full as they should be. Maybe this would all seem better if the head was weathered a bit (since the finish seems to reflect a whole lot), however, I don't wish to go down that road to find out and risk ruining the piece.
I am willing to experiment with the Sideshow version since the head is detachable and I don't have incredible hang-ups with the body. I'm hoping I can turn it into something I am pleased and satisfied with. I did something similar with my Don Post Stormtrooper statue. I replaced the head with a more accurate one, and I'm very happy with it now.
