A real HAL 9000 interface?

I think someone is a 2001 fan.

This is a security camera/doorbell attached to a business building I came across in Stuttgart, Germany this afternoon.........

It sure looks like ol' HAL.

That's a really cool idea, though. I would love to attach a HAL 9000 panel on the area around my front door, complete with voice clips from the film.

I hope whoever programmed the thing had the good sense to add in an occasional, "sorry I can't do that", when asked to open the door.

THAT would be awesome.

Is there a vendor's logo there some where?
Do you have a pic in larger resolution, then maybe you could see.

I'm in town all this week. I'll try to get back over there later. Yeah, I should checked that.

"The mere fact that I'm upside down shouldn't affect my effectiveness, Dave. I have the highest confidence in the mission (to open the door)."

A coworker and I installed something very similar to that for one of our business partners a few years back.

The niftiest part is that the receptionist has full control of the camera. They can pan and zoom as well as two way communication.

well, I've seen them here in germany some times. But if you move closer you can see the cam inside the dome...

Yeah .. quite common in state-government buildings in Belgium. They even have bright white LEDs in them to light up the person at night. :love
