Speaking from experience, that part cracks me up every time I watch it. And I"ve seen it like ten times at this point. I dunno, there's just something A LOT funnier about bleeping out curse words than actually hearing them.
Thanks again for all the support, folks! I'm really excited about the number of hits these videos are getting. Please share them on your facebook page, your blog, wherever you think there might be people who want to see them.
And let me know if you have suggestions about future episodes too. There's TONS of stuff to cover!!
Just watched this and it's awesome. I will be attempting something similar soon so it was great to see you show it step by step, the bleeping cracked me up aswell.
To make the fiber glass quite thick can you lay a few sheets...let it set and then lay more or does it all have to be laid in one go. I've heard that you can't lay fiberglass over another set once it's dired cause it won't stick?
Question I did not see answered on the resin side. What is the setup time and how long after brushing it in do you generally have to lay the matt(buh dum pssssh) before it has lost its tackiness?
Well my gelcoat comment was purely observational, I prefer 1630 myself. 1630 is much easier to work with, more forgiving, and doesn't smell nearly as bad!
Awesome tutorials Matt :thumbsup love the humorous bleep outs, very funny :lol I'm looking forward to more
Quick question, I need to make a fibreglass jacket for a mould I will be making soon (attempt take two at mould making). Have you guys ever used the gel coat for mother moulds, or do you just use the fibreglass on its own?
From the tut it looks like a gel coat would be quite good as a first layer, but not sure of it would actually be benifitial or not.
