A Few Questions Re Resin Casting/Painting From a First Timer

Hi Everyone!

I am working on a mask and I was hoping some of you might be able to help me answer a few questions.

I am working on sculpting the mask in Monster Makers Clay. I would like a rigid mask so I am thinking of using Smooth-On's Smooth-Cast 300 for the finished product. I figured I would create the mold with either Mold Max or Rebound 25. This is the first time I would be using any of these type of products.

This isn't the current mask but it's a pretty decent representation of how big the one I am working on will end up being (Minus the flashing).

(This is the only mask I have ever made, I made it with latex from a hydrocal mold)

here are the questions about the current project...

Mold Makers: Can anyone give me pros and cons for either of Mold Max vs Rebound 25 besides cost? What should I use as a backer (Mother?).

Is Smooth-Cast even the right choice for the finished piece or is there an alternative I should be considering?

Can anyone tell me about how much or how to gauge how much molding and casting materials this might use? This is a labor of Love that I really don't have the money to be building so I don't want to over or under buy and I have no idea how I would judge this.

Painters: What type of paints can I use on Smooth-Cast? I would prefer to use an airbrush to apply the paint. In the end I need a super glossy finish, or overcoat - any suggestions?

I know that's a lot of questions :confused any answers would be super helpful. I'll be sure to post some pics when I finish!

Thanks!
