A DragonCon Family Vacation (Aliens, Batman, Steampunk, and TMNT costumes)

My mom wanted to get the family together for a big group vacation for a long time. No one could agree on where to go or what to do, but knowing that all 11 of us would-be-vacationers were nerds at our core I knew the only answer! Time to roll 11 deep into DragonCon!

So last Labor day weekend, my wife, my son (5yrs old) my daughter (11mos), my brother, my bro's wife, my wife's sister, wife's sis's husband, my wife's mom, my own mom, my dad and myself all packed into 3 vehicles and we hit Atlanta.

Each day was themed for a "family costume". In exchange for my bro's side of the family agreeing to make Saturday "Aliens day" (including the parade), my side agreed to let Sunday be "Steampunk day" (capped by the mechanical masquerade ball). Not everyone did every day, but we had a great turnout overall.

So here we were:

Friday: Batman day - Really only Myself, my son (who picked the theme) and my wife.

And Monday: Ninja turtles. Only 2 survived to this point! My son wanted to be Raph, so I slapped a quick Casey together.

So very happy to have had such great family time, but WOW was that exhausting. So exhausting... But there it is. I think we all had a great time overall and hopefully everyone left with a few more happy memories.
