47 Ronin - Should it be left alone?

I liked several of the different subtitled versions from the past and finally Chūsingura from 1962 starring one of my favorite Japanese actors Toshiro Mifune.

But now starring Keanu Reeves in the lead role? WHOA!? :confused

The story of the 47 Ronin is obviously a very old one, so any new movie isn't the same as an awful remake or reboot. But Keanu?! Wtf?

I try to avoid anything with him in it. He needs to do another Bill and ted movie and stop trying to be a serious actor. I agree this isn't a movie that needs another version of and certainly not with him in it.

Once again casting another "non-Japanese" actor in the role of a Japanese....unless he is playing an American in Japan trying to influences the samurai regarding the ways of Bushido and...............wait...............??? ................... that was already done......never mind!

How about Ken Watanabe in the lead role???:love

Close - Hiroyuki Sanada is playing the lead ronin. He was Watanabe's badass underling in The Last Samurai.
