Another prop from my high school 3D fabrication & Prop Design class. I've always wanted a prop from Indiana Jones, and aside from the 20 foot boulder, this is the next best thing.

A base mesh was created in 3D Studio Max, followed by a bunch of sculpting in Mudbox. Split it into 2 parts to make printing easier. Glued it together, filled the seams and painted it.

Printing times were almost 24 hours total, but it is life-sized and it is pretty cool. Great work Cody!

Agreed, it definitely needed more sanding. It was just 1 of many props that all happened at the same time and it probably got the least amount of love :(

That's cool. I'd actually love to have one of the "halves", and have that finished and framed on our museum wall :) Now THAT would be a different kind of idol for our collection!

Damn, I wish I had a class like that! I am currently working a few projects myself..... but I'm sure it would be so much easier if I had mentors to help out on things like this.

Thanks for the kind words, we're happy with the end results, printing another, will give it a bit more filling and sanding love

Very cool! Cheers!

I'm wondering if a scaled pedestal would be a possibility? How would you start with something like that ...

Very cool and good to see lots of cool stuff in schools now.

Would the acetone vapor bath thing work on a project like this?
