2nd Hand Made Wooden Lightsaber [PIC HEAVY]

Hey guys! This is my first post on The RPF so I apologize for anything I might get wrong.

Originally I was inspired by Adam Savage's enthusiasm for prop making and the Tested channel's videos, that is why I originally decided to give prop making a try myself! So a big thanks to Adam Savage and the folks at Tested!

I've been making things seriously for only a few years now, I decided from the get-go to do woodworking using only hand tools (though I make the exception for drilling holes because I'm not as precise as I need to be for that) because I like the way that things were made a long time ago, and it means more to me when things are made by hand.

This is technically the 3rd prop replica that I've made, the first being a Minecraft sword and the second being my first lightsaber, which I will post about later and include the link here.
After finishing my first lightsaber, which I was going to give to my cousin, I decided that instead of giving him that lightsaber I would let him pick a design that he liked that I would then make for him. This project started about 6 months ago and I just recently finished, this lightsaber hilt is the product of about 150 hours of woodworking and painting that was stretched out along those six months. I started with a picture that my cousin found of a design he liked which I printed out, I then took all the measurements from that picture using digital calipers and multiplied those measurements by 1.356 to get the scale I wanted (exactly a foot long, 1 & 1/2 inch diameter at the knurling), from that point on it was about figuring out which pieces needed to be made separate and which could be made in one piece, all in all there are 14 separate pieces that were held on with glue and/or dowel rods.

You may have noticed that the lever looks welded on, I was trying to figure out why the lever would have welds around it and I finally came up with somewhat of a story for the the "character" who made this. He didn't like any of the buttons he could find for the saber, he looked all over trying to find a button that he thought suited his style and conveyed his anger. Finally he found a lever and modified it and the hilt to function the same as a button then welded on the lever box. This also explains somewhat canonically why you never see a lightsaber activated by a lever, because this was a very one off and personal thing.

There are pictures below as well as a link to a video that includes several photos, narration, time lapses and generally a more in depth description of the making process, be warned however, it is a 40 minute video.

I hope you like it! Please feel free to give constructive criticism, I'm always looking to grow and improve! If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment, I will gladly answer as best I can!

Wood work.... this is incredible! It looks fantastic. I've seen wooden sabers before and I didn't care much for them, but this is tremendous.
Job well done.
