2017 Beast build thread (pic heavy)

Didn't quite have time to finish this in time for NYCC, so I'm coming out of lurking and starting a build thread to keep myself motivated to finish it during the off season!

I started making the beast in June, and currently all I have left to do is adjust some stuff with the stilts (mainly how my feet are strapped into the stilts, cause I'm not 100% happy with the way it is right now), finish the fur on the legs (although I'm thinking i'll redo the muscle suit on the legs entirely), finish punching the hair on the face, paint the horns, add the cuffs and make the jabot and lace cuffs of the jacket, sew on all the buttons and do the embroidery, and make the hands!

The face prosthetic was sculpted on a very bad lifecast of myself, which resulted in me having to cut out and re-sculpt/replace the mouth like four times to make it so that it wouldn't look really really odd when i opened my mouth, and every hair in it is hand punched. The longer parts along the edges are all fake wig hair for weaves in a couple different colours, and the face is conditioned and straightened crepe hair in two different colours.

The muscle suit torso is a base eva foam shape, with eva foam and foam from an old mattress topper I had laying around on top, and it's constructed with elastic so that when the arms move, it pulls the muscle shapes in the back for realistic(ish) movement!

Next steps are to finish the hair on the face, finish making the clothing, make the hands, and then decide if i wanna restart on the legs (which I probably do)

I'll post more pics of the clothes (which are further along than these pictures show) once I get things set up at home again

Thanks!! here's some updated pics of the coat (super wrinkled from transport, gotta fix that and re press the back side pleats and fix those permanently)

now that I have more time i'm probably gonna try to do all the hand embroidery instead of using appliques like I initially planned to

That looks incredible! Nice job!!

But just so you know... in line with and according to forklore and fairytails throughout time, Gaston is the true hero of Beauty and The Beast.

As the hunter/gatherer/protector of the people in the small French town during that time in history, he hears that there is a Werewolf/Buffalo hybrid lurking in a castle up on a mountain and has already kidnapped one villager (Belle's father) and now has kidnapped Gaston's one true love and the ying to his yang Belle.

At this point Gaston fears the worse and figures she is being starved to death, locked in a cold stone cell in the middle of winter (it's always snowing at Beast's castle) or worse. It gets so bad to the point she begins developing Stockholm Syndrome and falling for a Beast who is know to either fly off in fits of uncontrollable rage or just stalk around the castle pouting instead of trying to figure out how to rescue all his staff that got innocently cursed for no good reason right along with Beast.

The hero's only recourse is to rally the village behind him and ride off on his trusty steed to rescue his princess from the clutches of evil. Just like a knight would ride off to rescue a princess from a dragon or a wicked witch.
