"2001" pilot uniform

I realize this is a long shot, but does anyone know where I might find additional reference of the costume seen below?

I've looked high and low on the `net and elsewhere, but aside from a few screen grabs I've come up short.

Thanks is advance for any help thrown my way.

Man that's a tough one!

I wish you all the luck and will be watching this thread with interest!

Did you look under the history of Pan Am uniforms?

I realize, of course, that he flew the moon run not the shuttle to the station but still. Could be the source for the look. The watch is probably the tougher find.

I'm a huge fan of 2001 and I gobble up any info I can find as it crosses my path. Unfortunately, I've never seen any info on the pilot uniform (shown in your shot being worn by Ed Bishop, I believe). There was quite a bit available about the stewardess pieces, but not the pilots. I'd be interested in hearing about anything you might uncover. Good luck with the search.

Thanks; from what I've been able to gather the Orion and Aries pilot uniforms were essentially the same costume (logo & insignia details notwithstanding).

As for the watch, it's the one item from the shot I posted that's been documented to death. I addition to owning one of the Hamilton commemorative editions, I stumbled upon this cool watch site....

The watch was an original design made by Hamilton on commission from Kubrick specifically for 2001.

In 2006, Hamilton released a reinterpretation of this watch in a limited edition of 2001 units worldwide.

The reissued watch is designated the Hamilton X-01. The list price is, I believe, $1295, but you can find them for as low as $919 at amazon.com.

Thanks, Pilot. :) :thumbsup

Whoops! Looks as if I took too long to compose my post. In the meantime, Carson beat me to it! :$

Yeah, that new ODC X-2 is a cool looking time piece.

Here's a shot of the screen-used X-1 for comparison...

I have a small collection of PanAm-related items, a few of which would work just fine as part of a retro-futuristic PanAm Space Clipper Captain’s uniform…

The trick is having an accurately fashioned, nicely tailored suit made. And, of course, the real trick is finding (or making) the cap. I'd be grateful for any suggestions you gents may have along those lines. I picked up a beautiful (vintage) PanAm hat badge online, but the cap itself has me stumped.

Here are a couple of cool sites for you PanAm buffs…

The dual-face Pan Am watch reminds me of the Android "Alien" watch used in the movie "Equilibrium".

I also had an Icons Endo Skull. They told me the batteries would last my lifetime. One day I happened to be looking at it (it sat on top of my TV) when the eyes faded to black.

I looked around to see if my life was ending.

WHen the eyes go out, it means Judgement Day is here at last. :sleep

Chuh-CHUH chuh-CHUH chuh-CHUNGG! :eek

Rob's wife puts up with a lot, but I think there may be a line drawn somewhere.

I’m sure there is, but I still haven't found it. :)

Evelyn knew I was a geek when she married me, and over the years she's proven to be a pretty good sport…

BTW Gene, that Buck Rogers helmet Ev is sporting is a screen-used original. Alas, I have NO idea what's become of it in the years since these shots were taken (much to JB’s dismay).

The above link is a pilot uniform place near LAX that can put the sleeve stripes on.

Thanks for the tip; as it happens, they’re conveniently located about ten minutes from where I live.
