2001: A Space Odyssey HAL 9000 deactivation key

My attempt at a HAL 9000 deactivation key. I based my design off of AP-333’s key and did a scratch build of the body in shapr3d to CNC it from 6061 aluminum. Press fit a standard Burg-Wachter E7 key and done.

Messed up one body by drilling slightly off center for the key as I didn’t leave a lot of wiggle room on either side of the shaft.

I think my dimensions are a little off (too thin and I feel like I tapered too narrow toward the top) and still needs some finishing work but I’m happy with the result.

Thank you! My ultimate 2001: goal is to try and build one of the helmets but the key had to scratch that itch on the meantime.

Helmet is a complicated one to build...eager to see what it'll look like when you start that project
